In September I inherited a dwarf hamster after my cousin passed away. He was super friendly and nice and I thought he would have a better home somewhere else so I gave him to a friend who teaches special needs kids as a class pet. He has been doing fabulous there. The kids built him basically a hamster castle and he does very well with them.
This past week my friend discovered a tumor on his chest. She took Billy to the vet and he was diagnosed with cancer. Bless her heart, my friend is starting him on steroids and pain meds.
I know hamsters don't live long, but he is very loved by the students and it would be sad to see him go so soon.
