YouTube - Puppy Owns German Shepherd

don't get me wrong, i understand the humor in it. that little chi is OWNING the german shepherd. and while the GSD looks well behaved and like hes playing, all it would take was just a snap or even just playing the same way towards that little guy to really hurt the tiny dog. :/ ehh i dunno. my friend showed it to me and it is funny, but it still made me uneasy for some reason

    what do you think?

That tiny little dog didn't look like it was playing to me lunging so forcefully and all. That's just my opinion.

I'm in love with that GSD.....aww, what a sweetie, so gentle and all.

As for the little one, I do think he's playing. He plays really rough though.

To me, it was all play on both parts. That is almost exactly how Pedro (min pin x) plays with Mom's saint. Heidi totally gets that he's 1/10th her size and adjusts her play accordingly. She's MUCH more gentle and laid back with him than she is with dogs her size. Heck, the play style is almost the same as Pedro and the puppy (papillon) now...adult dog being chill and on his back while the puppy gets all kinds of stupid. It also looked like the little one was young and still at the age where adult dogs allow more stupid puppy behavior. Pedro got away with a LOT more stupidity as a 4 month old pup than he does now from the big dogs.

Looks like play to me. :)

Nope, not nervous about it. The GSD looks like he's got great inhibition and is clearly not at all upset by the pup.

I want that GSD too! At first I thought the little chi was being aggressive but then it did look like play (it was a little hard to tell in the video), it even started rolling on its back. The GSD showed nothing but gentle playfulness the whole time so it didn't concern me. If they were my dogs I'd certain watch them closely while they played but I'd let 'em play.

It cracked me up when the chi tried to steal the ball out of the GSD's mouth even though that ball was bigger than its wee little head.

too cute.. its definatly play. Keely is the same thing. She growls and will chase kacee down and nip gently at her ankles and she even looks like shes going to kill her. But irts all in good fun and kacee enjoys it just as much.

Plus. It is a pretty young puppy. I just dont see a pup that young being that aggresive. Not saying its impossible. But pretty unlikely.

dogs are smart, my dogs teeth never bite down with me, unless their nibbling. they're very gentle with babies, they don't put their teeth on them at all, they're gentle with the cats, same thing, no teeth. Open mouth, but never any bite pressure at all. With each other or other dogs??? they bite the crap out of each other and love it, same with protection work. It's amazing how hard they can bite and how soft they can be at the same time.

I think thats pretty cute. Sophie's (big mix - 42kg) best friend in the whole world was our 5kg maltese mix. Daisy would chase Sophie flat out in circles as play, funniest thing ever to watch this big pig dog type bolting as fast as she could to escape a fluffball not even the size of my head lol.

Sophie has always been aware of her size and very gentle when playing, Mac is so terrier and can hold her own when playing rough with dogs 2 or 3 times her weight but when Sophie plays with any of the other dogs she actually pulls her lips in over her teeth and never closes her mouth on them. If she actually manages to pin any of them she just flea nibbles them lol. None of them are so kinda to her though.

That vid doesnt make uneasy at all. I've had the same situation in my household. And my little dog really was serious at times, but the larger dog really didnt care.

Little dogs, especially puppies, tend to play a little more rambunctiously then larger dogs. When Ben and Lilly play there are usually chunks of fur that are ripped out and they bite each other quite painfully. It is all play though and if you interupt them they both stare at you with glued up lips and big grins.

When Ben plays with my parents BC, he is rough like the chi and she just bats at him with her paw. I think big dogs understand that little dogs are little and little dogs take advantage of that. LOL!

Whether it was play or not I did notice the Chi is not neutered which would help in case it was a bit of aggression if he was neutered.

Suggesting that a dog that young be neutered is outrageous!

I wouldn't be nervous about it. Then again, that is how Rascal (2lbs) plays with Rosey (48lbs). It's just how little vs. big works
