Well we are going away on Friday so the dogs will be staying at the kennel.... When I called to reserve their stay the lady says "Ok we just need updated shot records for Belle" WHAT? lol I was certain that they didn't need to be updated until the end of January... and I was right as far as Rabies lol but the shelter gave her her bordatella and her distemper back in october.... I had no idea... I just assumed they were all given to her at the same time lol... so we had to rush around this week to get her into the vet before she goes to the Kennel...

Well our poor Poo Poo Baloo has some car sick troubles... she always throws up in the car and I didn't even think to give her her carsickness meds... even though we aren't convinced yet that they work lol.

Brian took her to the vet himself while I stayed home with Hannah... he said she was GREAT at the vets office but threw up twice on the way there... once on the way home and had the runs all over the blanket on the way home. Poor girl is NOT feeling so hot right now.

I knew somethign was wrong as soon as I saw him getting her out of the car because she was very mopey. Beezer was thrilled to see her come home but I think he knew she wasn't feeling great cause he would just approach her slowly and sniff and lick at her mouth and she just stood there with her head hung and ears drooping.

So now she is fast asleep on the couch...curled up in a little ball with her head tucked under her back leg... every once in a while I hear a big *SIGH*

So our little Poo Poo is feeling pretty sorry for herself. Poor girl.

I had a Basset Hound puppy that my family rescued a while back ago and rehomed. The guy that had him was throwing him out so we decided to foster him temporarily. I took him to the vet for all his shots before rehoming him and he would get pretty carsick. Multiple stops on the way there and back. Sorry she isn't feeling so well.

I give SHaffer a dramimine about an hour before i have to take him anywhere. I tried the ginger but it wasn't enough. HE is so desperate to come with but so green as soon as the car moves. Sorry Belle, its no fun.

Yeah we tried the Dramamine... not strong enough for her.

the wierd thing is... if Beezer is coming along too... she rarely gets sick. I think it's maybe because she has a distraction... but if she is alone? OH MAN... The Dr did tell Brian today that there is something stronger that they can give us for her that might help. We will give the pills we have another chance and if they don't work we will go with the other.

You just described exactly to a T (right down to the nose tucked under a back leg) what Marlowe does when he's feeling down.

Buck up, Belle! You'll be fine once you get some Zzzzs in. Marlowe commiserates on the car thing. He doesn't get carsick but he HATES the car. Hates it. He moans and cries and whines and wubba-wubba-wubbas the entire ride.

Zoe used to get carsick on longer trips. But usually not when we go around town to the vet or petsmart. Only when she had to get fixed and hadn't had anything to eat or drink the night before, or was riding in her crate.

But on trips home she would get car sick. I used to give her benedryl, but it didn't really help so the vet gave me some other stuff. But now I don't use anything and I have her crate in half and so it doesnt have the top on and she rides in the passenger seat in the crate and she hasnt gotten sick as much. She still does sometimes, but I think somehow it helps her to be in the front seat.

Middie LOVES car rides, but when my mom drives he always gets carsick. We had quite the Incident a few weeks ago with him throwing up.. everywhere. It was horrific.

I've had great success using the methods I use for me with him, though. If I can get him to close his eyes or just put my hand over them for the early bits of the ride it helps, and if he looks a bit ill or starts to drool I open the windows and let him stick his head out. The cool, the breeze, and having the distraction helps him so much. He survived a 45 minute car ride there and back with no breaks that way and didn't throw up... AND it was my mother driving, lol.

She is STILL sleeping on the couch... normally at this time she would be up looking for Brian to come home but she is obviously feeling miserable. Although I am willing to bet dollars to donuts she forgets how terrible she feels as soon as he steps in the door lol. I think even Beezer feels sorry for her because he is sleeping on the chair and hasn't moved since Belle laid down... normally he's up looking out the window and such but not today.
