As I mentioned in the thread in the firehydrant (the kids learned a "new" word), my wife took my one cat to the groomers today to get shaved as she had a lot of matts.

I thought it might be fun to show a before and after picture of her.

Oh Andrew, we had to do the same thing to one of our Maine Coon cats. Our other cat had no idea who he was for a few days. I felt bad, but when the coat grows in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in length, it's so soft.

Poor kitty, but this is pretty funny I have to admit.

I remember visiting my mom and spending 2 hours trying to get rid of the mats on my maine coon cat... I had to cut a lot, but he didn't have to get shaved.

Yeah, my wife is still in the dog-house! LOL! However, Misty's a lot more comfortable now and she's fine with it with anyone but my wife :D (I'm so glad I have a day-job and couldn't go to the groomers with them!)

Figgy, had so many knots, but me did not even bother to take him to the groomeres. My mom, who used to manage a pet store, decided for me to hold him while she cuts them out.He would not let us do all of them, and the easy part is, you can feel the knots when you pet him, run it over with a slicker brusk a few time, and the knot turns white, and then you just have to pull it out, and it comes out easily, but if it does not..well... lets just say your hand turns into a bloody mess...

Joce, they do look a lot alike! Very beautiful cat!

Sheba, we've had them brushed out before but this time the fur on her haunches was matted and putting your hand there is taking your life in your hands. She's actually quite happy with being shaved....she's going outside more, taking no crap from the dog and just back to her old self. And although she looks like a bobble-head, we may just do this to her a couple of times a year as she's more herself now than with the fur.
