The linked study was in Austrian, i couldn't understand any of it

In the study, Austrian scientists performed several long-term feeding trials over 20 weeks with laboratory mice fed a diet containing 33% of a GM variety (NK 603 x MON 810), or a closely related non-GE variety used in many countries. Statistically significant litter size and pup weight decreases were found in the third and fourth litters in the GM-fed mice, compared to the control group.

what it means??? I don't know. I do know that changes in diet do cause DNA changes seen generations down the road. There aren't a lot of studies done on it that I'm aware of, but some interesting stuff was found studying descendants from the Irish potato famine and changes in their DNA.

GMO's are banned all over the world, but not here. If they aren't going to ban them, then we should at least know it is in our food by a label. I don't know if eating beef fed GMO corn will harm me or my family. I don't really care. I know that I would rather feed them beef from a more natural source than a AFO GMO corn stuffed steer. I don't know if using the oil from a rapeseed plant will result in dna changes that render my descendants infertile in 60 years, but I do I'd rather not feed a GMO to my family regardless.

It's kind of funny that a lot of things being done now are very similar to procedures that were welcomed years ago. During the World Wars there was a lot of sacrifice and the citizens embraced being patriotic and helping out their country. Now, it's much more MINEMINEMINE. An interesting change.

This seems like something that should be done for tax reasons, personal and govt. inventory.... Honestly, as soon as the article threw around "Obama did this", I stopped reading it. I don't do well with fear mongering.

Oh, so you would be cool with an executive order that allowed the federal government to seize 100% of your income for "national security efforts" with the stroke of a pen? For many farmers that land, those crops, animals, and seeds are their income, or the majority of it. Plus, those things are generally already covered in their taxes. My stepdad has taken over the operations on his 91 year old father's farm and he does the taxes for the farm too.

If the government wanted to insure food security it seems that it would be more effective to have policies to encourage urban farming and diversified farms that can feed the regions around them.

GMOs shouldn't be patentable, IMO. At the very least, GMO foods should be labeled and not be allowed contaminate non-GMO food. Many things have been used for years and than found to cause health problems. Lead paint for example.

Nothing new about this executive order. It was originally written under Eisenhower and has been renewed and or modified by every president since. In short, in a state of NATIONAL EMERGENCY, the fed takes control of all food resources, transportation & communications without any compensation. The biggest concerns are who decides when the emergency is national in scope, at what level does the control/confiscation stop and who defines food resources & national interests. As it's written your pet bunny (or cat or dog for that matter) can become a food resource confiscated in the national interest, likewise your laptop or kids bikes all at the whim of some bureaucrat. I'm not overwrought, but I understand the concern.

I'm about the same. If it is a national emergency, like we faced in WWII i'll be volunteering up stuff. If it's some made up power grab, i'll probably die defending it

I think the idea of small batches of food being grown everywhere unregulated, uncontrolled, unrecorded, by lay people, is enough to give those in charge of food safety hives.

I know many places now, you have to give the feed store your phone number before they sell you a bag of anything... so if eg avian flu comes round they know where to send their chicken stranglers.

I don't think you understand the concept of power.

To be honest, you've proven they don't have to kill or enslave people to "have power". They have power over you, since you allow them to have such control over you that you live in a state of paranoia.

An asteroid could wipe out human civilization tomorrow. Yellowstone could erupt tomorrow. I could die of a heart attack. An invisible law enforcement official could be in my house due to some kind of discovered cloaking technology. ...and so on ...and so on. There so many possible calamities (and some unlikely, IMO) that I can't prepare for them all. Another thing, If a really severe disaster happens, would I even want to be alive to begin with?

Seriously I don't understand why preparedness equals paranoia or "tin foil conspiracy" these days. It used to be just plain common sense. There are too many people in the country and world right now to be controlled by the people in power that want to take it over. They are killing us in the masses (big pharma, GMOs, false flag attacks) to reduce our population to a controllable size to take resources from us and ultimately detain us. They're taking away our rights to make it easier (gun control) and they're distracting us to make sure no one notices (civil rights, sports, mainstream media).
