My poor, poor baby. When I got Argon (Oct 30), he was pretty much bald all down his chest and in two spots on his throat. I assumed that the baldness came from poor living conditions, and at leat one of the neck spots was the result of a collar rubbing him.
It was slow going, but the hair finally grew in on his chest and one of the throat spots about March. The other spot, about the size of a quarter, remained naked.
I looked at him today, and the hair on his chest is falling out!
He does not have fleas or mange. The skin where he is going bald is soft and supple, with no signs of irritation.
I've been told that this can happen with Whippets, any truth to that rumor? He is Whippet/Basset mixed with an odd coat. His coat is longer than a Whippets, but not thick like a basset. Almost like he lacks and undercoat completely. He has some very, very subtle feathering on his ears and the backs of his legs, so small that you can barely see it.
He always lays on soft surfaces, and does not seem itchy at all. Thoughts? Should I just stock up on Canine Rogaine and start rubbing? :lol-sign:
