I don't get that and it's fine the sizes on here. I didn't need to scroll over for any of the ones I've seen. On some other lists I'm on there are guidelines about signature sizes. Not sure about this one though. I pretty much just lern about things as they come up. But this hasn't been an issue and I'm fine with the signature sizes I've seen. Everyone has an oppinion, though and it seems like a lot are different.

I'm sorry, I just don't feel desktop-sized images really belong in people's signatures.
I have to agree. it's a pain for dial-up users. it is always appreciated when people keep size reasonable. :) it's just a nice consideration.

how big do you consider too big??

It is a pain - I have dial up too, but I haven't seen any recently that were too big. There was another thread like this one already ;)

I didn't mean to be repeatative...I searched briefly and didn't see anything...

I personally can't see needing anything bigger than 400X400 pixels or 200k...

Go to your User CP and scroll down to Thread Display Options. Uncheck Show Signatures and you wont have to deal with any overly large sig pics again.

There's about as much justification behind doing that as there is in putting desk-top sized imagines in one's signature.

i dont see why - some of us like seeing them, but i dont like seeing the HUGE ones repeatedly.

i dont think its unreasonable to ask people not to have signatures that take up an entire screen. every other board i am on has limits as to signature size so that members don't have to scroll through more signature than there is posts -- why should this one be different?

yes there is another thread - but no real resolution came from it.

so mods, is there a reason there isnt a limit? they HAVE in the past told people that they were too large, but many people have still gotten larger ones.

ok I don't mean to be a smartbum here but I would say that it is because this forum is a different one than the other ones and just because other forums have limits does not mean that this one has too.

What he said. You have a choice here you can see them or not.

So far I havent seen any that are really too big. Although I dont think someone should have to turn off everyone's sigs. I like to look at people sigs.

I have to say - there's not a lot of logic to putting restrictions on the avatars and yet letting people fill a whole page with a signature if they choose to.

I agree that the huge signatures, to me are irritating at best. I like to see the signatures, so I prefer not to turn them off totally, but the ones that are so big they take up half the page, or you have to scroll over to even read posts, that is over the top. And it takes me a good while to load a page if it is full of the big signatures.

I think it is only fair to have a descent size limit to the signatures.

I think signatures are a great thing, they help a person stand out as an individual in the community and I do enjoy looking at them, but when they are so huge that scrolling through a thread just to get to the next post becomes a chore, it's nothing less than annoying, especially if it is a conversation with several people posting relatively short messages.

It's nothing but irritating when someone posts a one-line response that barely fills the default size of a post and then a signature 3 or 4 times of that size follows.

IMO a limit on heigth of about 150 pixels would be appropriate and wouldn't restrict anyone's creativity. People who just want to show off can make a website.
