God lord... Enough already!

If a male counterpart had her track record he'd not have a ride let alone her level of media saturation....

This crap is part of why I am far more into grass roots Dirt racing anymore and loosing interest in NASCAR...

She's in a top ride and has never even won a race in a Stock car in any level in NASCAR or ARCA.. I don't *dislike* her.... But she is seriously highly overrated and I am tired of hearing about her so much when there are drivers far more skilled than her without a ride...

Cute, Nice, and friends in the right places (and i admit some skill) should not get you to where she is... Results should and in my opinion One Indy win (A fuel mileage win at that) are not results...

Just my opinion though... But it's driving me and many I know away from the sport, it's becoming far more about who you know than your skill behind the wheel...

Uhh which drivers without rides? That are better?

Looks like 43 cars whenever the rain stops. Lots of bad drivers in that lineup.

Well for one, David Regan won his first race last year, has far better stats and is rideless...

And there are tons of drivers who deserve the spot more than her, Tons...

But NASCAR has become about money, sales, commercialism...

I spend time each year in Eden NC, have a friend there who took me to meet Chocolate and spent hours at the Railroad Cafe listening to old school guys talk... That era is gone and the superstar one is here and I for one don't much like it...

I have seen this sport change so much, and I will stick to WoO, Lucas and the likes for racing... Money is still a factor no doubt, but you don't have to be gorgeous, just talented...

I say name me one, just one male driver with her stats who get the kind of media play she does... Or even a ride in Nationwide...

Anyhow, LOL this is a passionate sport and we all are entitled to our own opinions, that's part of what built it up...:D

I guess I am in the minority here, but that's cool...

In my house alone we have bitter rivalry with everyone having different drivers...

I remember meeting Kenny S and him making fun of my choice of driver coat... LOL

I love how people talk about her win like "oh it was just fuel strategy, without that strategy she wouldn't have won." Um, yeah. There are LOTS of races that come down to fuel strategy, wins and losses on fuel strategy. That's part of racing, IRL or NASCAR both. I remember SCREAMING at the television last year when Dale Jr. ran out of gas on the straightaway to the finish line last year and blew his first win in what, four years?

For that matter there's plenty of people who think Junior is way overrated and shouldn't be racing anymore either based on his win record... but he's still one of the most popular NASCAR drivers right now...

Personally, I'm not a fan of a sports figure or sports team just because they win a lot. God knows as a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan I couldn't be. I like who I like and don't bail on somebody if they're not winning. So I'm a Danica fan, and a Junior fan, win or lose.
Also, love her or hate her, she is the best female driver out there right now and also happens to have set (and holds) plenty of records.

Just to be clear, LOL

My favorite drivers are far from the ones who win every week...

I like the guys who would race a golf cart if that's all their was, guys like the two Kenny's, Robby Gordon, Dave Blaney, my favorite for several years was Mikey... I do like Harvick and Smoke who are the most sucsessful of my favorites..

I do think Jr is overrated and I was a fan of his Daddy... My Mom and I argue this point a lot LOL

I did not mean to get your back up, sorry... I just get tired of the overexposure of a driver I don't think has earned it yet...

I do argue for/ against drivers all the time, it's kind of a right of passage in this sport and posted this not to get into an actual argument :) so I will back off now because clearly you are taking it more seriously than I meant...

That's kind of my point though... LOL

If she was far more average looking, in my opinion, she'd not be where she is.....

I hope, I honestly do, that she proves that wrong... But that remains to be seen..

As of right now she has not even won a lower level race, and had one top 5, and four top tens in nearly 30 starts...

So while I hope she proves herself, it's my opinion she needs to do it on the track and not in a bikini....

Athletes that are good looking getting special treatment/recognition from those that aren't?!
CAN IT BE?!

Oh wait.

heck IMO go for it if you've got it.
The shelf life of ANY athlete is RIDICULOUSLY short in most cases. You are in, you are out.
Make the money while you can.

And honestly, I would bet A LOT of money that if given the god-given good looks, nearly every other driver on that track (and in MOST other sports) would be soaking up the sponsorships just as Danica and all the others are.

Sour grapes IMO.

There is plenty of time around practice and being good at your given sport to pose for a few sponsorships and photo-shoots.
Not their fault that they were born ridiculously good looking and are getting paid for it lol

As for if they are actually TALENTED... who knows. maybe some , maybe not others. but that has little to do with how many photo shoots they do or how good they look in a bikin IMO

Like I said, hope she proves me wrong...

NASCAR is a lot different than other sports, drivers can have extended careers..

I have no problem with her using her looks in some ways and don't actually blame her for the over saturation that's driving many of us insane... I blame the network...

It may be sour grapes for some, I can only give you my word Abd you'll have to take it or leave it... For me it's about a driver who has NOT YET proved herself being made into a star, when stats simply don't lie and she has not, in my opinion earned that status...

Anyhow, I am clearly not coming across the way I intended, for that I apoligise..

...My favorite drivers are far from the ones who win every week...
Mine, too- I'm a Ford girl. :)

...I like the guys who would race a golf cart if that's all their was, guys like the two Kenny's, Robby Gordon, Dave Blaney, my favorite for several years was Mikey...
If there wasn't a chance a Ford would win, I'd root for any of them, except for Robby Gordon. Even when he was driving a Ford I wouldn't root for him.

...I do like Harvick and Smoke who are the most sucsessful of my favorites...
They've grown on me, too. Especially Smoke- once he got his temper under control. And especially since he got out of a Toyota.

...I do think Jr is overrated and I was a fan of his Daddy...
The guy where I buy dog food & I have that conversation often- neither Junior nor Kyle Petty have the talent their Daddies did. I wasn't necessarily an Earnhardt fan, but was known to root for him on occasion (that Ford thing again).

Funny thing- we were quite the Dale house here for awhile- Hubby & I were Dale Jarrett fans, youngest son Dale Sr, and oldest son Dale Jr.

As for Danica- I like her personality, think she has a lot to learn in NASCAR, and she has talent. Some of those wrecks she was in last year were simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And, yes, there has been WAY too much attention on her. Now, if she were driving a Ford, I just might be a fan. LOL

WINNING!!!

I dont follow NASCAR, if it werent for the crashes I wouldnt even know what it is.

I had to Google Robby Gordon when I found out he was in the 2012 King of the Hammers race as to why it was a big deal. Ill take King of the Hammers over Daytona 500 every year. In NASCAR driving over another car is a bad thing, in KOH it is AWESOME!

ETA: Apparently Mr Gordon also runs the Paris Dakar Rally.
