We haven't run more this year than in previous years.. I just think I've managed to cram most of our trialling into July.. and mainly doing 1 day of a trial has made it feel like more..

We ran a 2 day AAC agility trial this weekend. Yesterday my kids rocked it. Cider ran a nice advanced standard run but missed our weave entry, again. NQ, but we got 3rd. We ran a nice steeplechase (fast course that is meant to flow but includes either the aframe 2x, or the weaves 2x). It had 2 sets of weaves in it (so 24 poles) and I was cursing up and down that I'd entered. Turns out it was so nice we Qd it.. and got 1st. I haven't entered it in a year or more as our weaves aren't reliable. We hit our entry both times.

Smudge ran advanced snooker, got exactly the points we needed to Q (we still had time left over) but we don't weave yet, so I had to use strategy to get enough points and avoid the weaves. Got the points we needed right before the weaves and partied off the course. Got 2nd because we didn't keep going, but that's okay.

    Both days ribbons combined. Smudge's Q, 1st and 2nd. Cider's Q, 1st, 3rd, and 2 4ths.

Today was sadly not so yay, but I'm okay with that. Smudge ran advanced jumpers, I goofed we took the wrong end of the tunnel, then we lost our connection at the end and he ran past the last two jumps. Load of faults, but we took a 1st..

Cider is seemingly broken today. I got her massaged, she found nothing wrong so I ran her.. it may be a pinched nerve.. Runs fine, actually better post massage.. looks smoother. But she yelps when I put any pressure on her back. Feel bad but I wasn't too sure what was going on with her and she was wanting to play. I pulled her from the last run of the day..

The first advanced standard I was pretty happy with as we hit our weaves, but she took down a bar which is odd for her and got me wondering if she was okay.. and sniffed near the table causing a refusal.. but getting our weaves is a cause to celebrate.. I got her massaged after this run, and thought she was okay again.. Got a 4th place, not too terrible considering it was the biggest 16" class I've almost ever seen..

Second advanced run was beautiful.. If she was hurting I didn't see it. We ran as a team, she was fast, she hit her weave entry. Sadly we ran past the last jump.....

A judge I take lessons from some told me the judge called us on the dogwalk contact (5 faults for missing it). I hadn't noticed a bad contact, and it seems the scribe didn't notice the judge's signal as it wasn't written down.. So I feel less depressed about the last jump.. We have needed one advanced standard Q for over a year.. So it's depressing since the scribe missed the contact that the jump is what made us NQ.. Got another 4th.

So I think Cider needs to see Smudge's chiro. I stretched her at dinner time and she didn't yelp, so I'm not sure what I think. End of the trial I took pics in the ring for a different back drop for once, and she was running around like her loony self, launched herself into the massage therapist.. Seemed to be herself but I'm now worried. She's never had an issue of any sort really before.

Today she seems to be herself though.. So I'm wondering pulled muscle instead of pinched nerve. They can't get her in for at least a few days, unless they get a cancellation.. The one time I had a pinched nerve is stayed full on owie for least 12 hours straight. And she has been her high self since after the trial..

I made a chiro appointment hoping they'd fit her in by the end of the week. They fit her in after the days appointments as an emergency. She jumped on my chiro, sniffed like mad was a crazy high girl who the chiro agreed didn't act like an injured pooch.

She had a slightly stiff spot up near C5 but it hadn't compromised her range of motion, the actual issue was a subluxation mid back. Two ribs likely pressed funny on a nerve, but then stayed placed in a way where when I stretch her that nerve continues to get pushed on. Wasn't something time would heal, only mask.

Her ribs are realigned, and she's on no agility for a week. Was a minor fix as I went in really fast, chiro said most people wouldn't. Usually I wouldn't.. but I feared if it was major and I ended her agility career before 5 as I didn't want to go get her checked. . So there were no other spots of tenderness from her trying to protect that nerve spot. Once bruised the nerves go into over load and are super sensitive.

I was told we can do rally, take walks. She gets rechecked next tuesday. If all is well I won't even be charged. If only I could find a vet I like as well as my chiro.. If she's still a little misaligned she figures maybe another visit tops, shouldn't be hard to fix, and shouldn't be long term at all.

So I'm thrilled I went in so fast.. as I now know Cider is going to be okay.

Glad to hear the chiro figured out what was up, and seems to be an 'easy fix'. Hopefully you get the green light next Tuesday and thigs are good to go again.

Glad to hear Cinder is ok. She'll be up and running in no time. :)
