Hi everyone! I haven't posted here in a little while, but I was the one who was interesting in getting a basset hound in a few yrs....yeah I am getting all my info early
however, I do have a question
I read on the basset hound club of america
Cleaning the anal sacs
A Basset’s anal sacs, which are located on either side of the anus, should to be checked and emptied regularly to avoid impaction and infection. Bassets with impacted anal sacs often drag their rear ends on the floor. Sacs are cleaned by holding the dog’s tail up and gently squeezing each sac. The smelly contents of impacted sacs will then squirt out. Owners who need assistance with this procedure should ask their veterinarians.
of all the basset sites I've read so far, this is the first time I read about this.....does anyone know more of this? is this part of caring for the dog? It doesn't deter me at all, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can
Thanks so much!!
