and now Zoey...

As a result of previous controversies, I wasn't going to mention Zoey. But, then I think what the **** and I can bear and grin and take all of the nasty doo-doo that I deserve to be flung my way.

A few days ago I was contacted by Animal Control and was asked to take in a female rottweiler and her young pups. They knew it would be a lot for me to handle, but the shelter couldn't take in these babies. So the next day I drove to pick up these sweeties. Silly me.

Zoey is a six or seven year old Rottweiler. cropped tail, whose previous owners had to quickly leave the state and left her and her newborn pups in the care of a family member...who couldn't care for them, either. Zoey had been living on a short chain with a small dog house, and the pups had been born outside. Those people cared enough to call Animal Control for help. Zoey was wearing an oversized spiked collar, which didn't seem to match her personality.

I was initially worried that I would be a stranger approaching a Rottweiler with pups....so I wisely brought raw steaks as a peace offering. Zoey is somewhat thin, all of those extra calories going toward keeping herself warm. The steaks worked their charm and Zoey and I quickly became friends.

She and the pups came home with me and went into the barn, away from the wind and snow and rain, until I was sure of her temperament. She quickly moved into my front room, I keep the door open to keep it warm in there.

Daddy was described as a sort of hairy stray with a blue eye, who attacked anyone who came near while Zoey was in heat. Pups were also born on Valentine's day; all seven of the pups are sable--some darker, some lighter...some look as if they have a mask.

Zoey is getting along in the house, prefers to go outside to potty. She's the right height for a female rottie, definitely underweight, but looking better with a few days of good food. At the moment, she is just starting to look like a Rott again (picking up a few pounds), she moves like a Rott.

You complain that people are mean to you but heres the thing... take a giant step back and look at it from our perspective... you have a new litter every week... you ask about certain mixes of dogs you have... and you start threads about how you dont want to alter your dogs... it is all very suspicious. Plus what are your intentions in posting here? You dont take the advice given or respond to almost any question directed your way? It really makes people wonder.... I honestly feel that we are all wasting our time on a Troll and you have done nothing to change the minds of all those people who agree with me.

If I came on and said I didnt want to alter my male yorkie and my female poodle, and then a day later made a thread asking about yorki-poos (sickens me to even say that), and than in a week had a litter of yorki-poos given to me by AC... I would expect people to be wondering.

That was my question too...I'm not sure what the OP hopes to gain by being here.

She asks for advice but doesn't take or acknowledge it. She doesn't respond in any threads but her own, and she doesnt contribute anything to the general board except controversial threads.

OP, can you explain what your motivation for posting is?

No, I don't complain that people are mean to me. Everyone has their own opinions, especially when it is directed at someone else. I have found that people who have speutered animals usually will advise speutering. And that people who have unspeutered animals will advise everyone else to speuter their animals.

It is not a matter of taking advice or not....I am weighing various responses and my own circumstances. Speutering is a big decision that cannot be undone later. I can always reschedule a speutering.
The mystery pups all have new homes, so now there is only two litters here. I did not breed them, I am simply caring for them and their mama's until I can find homes for the pups....1. when they are old enough 2. when they are vaccinated and deemed healthy.

And yes, I do respond in other threads, but I am sorry if I have not yet responded to any of yours. And I don't keep tabs of people who respond to mine....

And here is something that might weigh on the minds of everyone. And it will prove a point. Zoey has a big notch taken out of each ear. Personally, I think it looks like someone started to cut her ears, and then had second thoughts.

ALL of my animals are altered.

However, I respect the decision of SOME people on here who have chosen not to alter their animals.

However, they are doing it responsibly.

I dont believe in general rules for everyone.

You asked for opinions, if you only wanted those of people who agreed you should have said that.

I stand by my initial statement, you have too many dogs in and out of your place to have unaltered dogs... and if these are truly rescues you dont know their temperments and they are all playing together, so there is another reason to alter.

oh, she is such a sweetie. Kinda old to rehome to someone else, although I am just her second home. She is adapting very very quickly here and appreciating all of the attention that she didn't get at the end of the chain. I'm not saying that she was neglected because she seems pretty well socialized. She fits in here, I like her alot.

Unless a very good reason comes up to rehome her, I will keep her.

Why is she too old to rehome? She just had a litter of puppies....if she can handle pups, she definitely isn't too old to rehome. After she's been spayed of course.

I do have neutered and spayed animals (aside from the puppy), as I have adoptees and pet quality dogs I have no intentions of breeding. I don't have an issue with responsible people keeping their pets intact. The key word being responsible. I do have an issue with people who adopt from a shelter, saying they'll neuter the dog they adopted, and then try to find a loophole around it.

I really doubt the Rottweiler is too old to rehome. I adopted my poodle mix when she was 10 and she's had nary an issue fitting right in.

I'm not sure what the ear cutting thing was supposed to promote thought towards aside from her former owners being idiots or cruel..Rottweilers don't have cropped ears.

According to the people who called AC...the previous owners tried to breed her, without success.
It seemed like a fluke that she took with this unplanned breeding.
Because....older dogs are more difficult to rehome. Just because you or I take one in doesn't reflect the majority opinion of the population. If I offered the average person the option of adopting the mama or one of the puppies, the average person would adopt one of the puppies.
So you and I are just unusual. And she is okay here. She is a good barker.

Why is she too old to rehome? She just had a litter of puppies....if she can handle pups, she definitely isn't too old to rehome. After she's been spayed of course.
