Time to cap some knees... I mean... Wait politely. :D

I totally bullied and begged my way into this class by asking daily and even encouraging the front desk to fill Sunday first. I almost lost my spot yesterday but the handler pulled after hearing its real foundations with ground work and not "you'll be on contacts on week three". Big evil grin lol

:rofl1:

We have a customer at work with a JRT puppy that's almost the same age as Siri, she is in the class and just found out she is moving to Texas in like a week. As much as I like her, inside I was all...

...one more spot open.

Abe got his first Q on AKC Jww thus weekend and that scored him a 3rd place.

Second day was less successful but I was still super proud of how he ran.

So, I don't post in here very often, but just wanted to share that Cricket got four Qs and four 1sts (out of five runs) this Saturday, at a CPE trial. We're a little rusty since I only get an hour to work with her every week, but I was really happy with how she ran this weekend - she was fast, spunky, and just obviously really enjoying herself. First time we'd ever been at this venue, and it was nice, but holy crap was it COLD. Remind me not to sign up for any more March trials in unheated barns.

My sister ran Journey, too, but didn't get any Qs and I think she's going to take a break from trialling for a while. Journey does beautifully in class but lately has been completely losing her mind at trials.

Oh! And Newton is doing SO WELL in his agility foundations class. Proud of this puppy.

Agility with Recon tonight went really well. Frag has the next few months off while he's with his other family. :(

Recon got introduced to the A Frame tonight and got to take a couple of painful trips over that. Painful to watch, that is, because he has NO coordination so we stopped that right away and just worked on 2o2o which he's picking up moving onto the obstacle instead of just on a plank. He wanted to just run up the A frame and slide down sideways or jump ship at the top though, so we're going to wait a few more months for his coordination to set straight and rear-end awareness (what's that!?) to be "got". Because he'll spin on a bucket all day, but still wants to walk sideways on and off the darned A frame.

We did some send to tables as well which I shaped and he's doing great. Mixing the clicker AND agility was a little overwhelming for him, I think, and when we did some tunnel to table sequences he got a little confused and thought me signalling the tunnel meant to jump ON it and try to balance there.

Then we finished with some obstacle discrimination with tunnel/aframe that he did great with and some weaves and distant/angled entrances. He loves weaves so he had ZERO issues there.

So the only bright spot in today, I had all the dogs out in the yard playing and since the snow is all gone I was able to move my 2x2 weaves around. I decided to put the other dogs up and have Payton do some weaves to see if he remembered how to do them.

Well he totally remembers how to do them and he will also happily send to them if I'm just standing still six feet behind them and tell him "go."

I'm starting to consider entering him in a summer trial even though I know he will likely not be REALLY ready... I didn't enter Auggie until his breeder told me he was ready (and I still had my doubts) - Auggie picked up Qs right out of the gate and it would be nice to have Payton be successful as well rather than have him in the ring and do anything super crazy... I mean, I know people enter baby dogs that don't get Qs for a while... but that's not how I did it and not how I envisioned Pay....
But I wanna play. I wanna play soooooo bad.

Love seeing everyone's vids and it makes me so itchy to get back into trialing.

I have started Who back into some training after her maternity leave, she gave me some really nice stuff tonight. Layering the weaves with the frame, she was flying and stayed in those weaves to the bitter end :) I was just coming around the frame to see her exiting them, I then tossed her fav reward..........ducks feet :)

We discovered lately (thanks Jess) that anytime I slow up or get static that she disconnects from me...............so I had better be moving and flying. First trial is next weekend since the summer.......we'll see.

Fun run from today! Happy with a lot of stuff, especially how her contacts are coming along (only been doing 2o2o for 3 weeks now, though she did learn "how" to do it in foundations class way back). I do need to work on her drive coming off of the contact obstacles, and her weave speed will hopefully keep improving with every new place we run/trial at.

We also love rear crosses LOL.

Gusto, Meg and I went a'trialling Friday and Saturday. I love when I get Sunday off to recover from trials!

Meg, of course, blew me away with her perfection. I had to laugh, because at one point I was chatting with someone about how nice it is to have the steady older dog to make you feel better when your baby dog is being a baby, and I said something like "I love how Meg just never worries about anything and marches into the ring and does her job every time". And then I burst out laughing, because how in the world did that ever happen?! My little stress case worrier is such a soldier now. Probably because I operate entirely under the rules I set when she got her PDCH - namely, there are no more rules. We only enter classes she likes (no pairs or gamblers ever again!), and whatever she wants to do is just fine. So of course, she hasn't missed a Q in I don't know how long, and has gotten a SuperQ in every snooker course in the last three trials (pretty much all we've done since she got her championship). I keep thinking that one day, she's going to come out and say "I don't want to do this anymore", but she is happier than ever to compete.

Friday night was Snooker, and everyone was walking around with a dazed look on their face after getting the maps. I adore snooker, and the more complex the better, but when the instructions are as big as the map, you know you are in for one heck of a run!

Meg was of course brilliant, and while we ran out of time to do seven in the closing (about 5 dogs total got through it), she did pull off a second and a SuperQ with 48 points.

And because her happiness at the end makes me squee, her standard run from Saturday.

Gusto had a really tough start to the weekend. I'm still trying to work out what he needs for a warm-up to get him ready to go in the ring, and he wound up stressing quite a bit in his first run. He got going a bit more for his second run Friday, but it wasn't until Saturday that I started to see the Gusto I know in the ring. He can't be left to "think" for even a second apparently or he stresses. We TugTugTug until we get to the gate, then throw the tug and I continue to try to keep him engaged until the timer actually tells us to go. The professional photos from the day show me on the start line doing everything short of rolling on the ground with him! He conveniently got it together for the last two runs of the weekend, which were really the only two we "needed" towards his PI, with a great clean run in Standard (other than having to go see if the piece of chalk on the floor by the scribe was perhaps edible, but he was still under time), and pulled off the gamble despite the fact that I was nowhere near where I wanted to be.

He did have to stop and see what the dot on the ground was (he is obsessed with dots on the ground), and I early-released his a-frame, which I swore I'd never do, but he's still slower and more stressed than I like in a trial setting, so...blah. I broke my own rule. He also started to release himself before I did on the start line I think. But I'm not going to fight him in the ring right now, while I'm trying to improve his confidence.

Everyone looks great!

My trainer is talking about us maybe entering a trial in June or July.... Eek! I don't know if we're ready but I guess experience doesn't hurt either.
