Make sure they do a culture and sensitivity with the urine to figure out what antibiotic to use - much better than just trying several abx until one works!
I agree, we did this with a cat when the first round of antibiotics didn't work (uti). We found the right antibiotic. It was $100 to send it out, cheaper than going back to the vet several times.

)))Vibes(((( for Boo!

Thanks everyone. I think that is what they are doing. The vet mentioned that the previous antibiotics may not have been the correct ones to kill the bacteria that's actually there, so I think that's why the sterile urinalysis was done (as opposed to last time when we collected a cup the "old fashioned" way!)

Apparently, my family was advised to give Boo 4 anxiety pills today (as opposed to the two that she been prescribed for the last visit). Despite being heavily dosed with doggie Xanax, she still balked at the walkway and my brother had to carry all 60 pounds of her into the clinic. No "Boo attempts to bite vet" stories this time though... so I guess that's a plus. ;) But I promise, she is a good dog! Just check out her trick thread! :p

good news (in the grand scheme of things). Boo does have a UTI and is being treated. Turns out the bacteria was sensitive to the medicine she was on before but I guess we didn't keep her on it long enough. Not really sure. Either way, she's now on her meds for 3 weeks and then should be good to go. Otherwise she's now acting perfectly normally! I'm hoping it works this time. :)
