He was eating 10 cups of food a day on it. He has a HUGE metabolism, others have stated why, read it over and over again. Scirocco isnt the only one this happens to. AND if you look at a normal standing picture he doesnt look horrible. A number have people have said so.

.
You obviously dont know greyhounds and you need to shut your mouth, My dog ate almost 5 cups a day and ate most of 17 pound bag in a week and a half and he didnt gain a pound on it and lost it yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. And since hes gained 10 pounds in less then a week since it got thrown out.

5 cups? 10 cups?? That's a huge difference........

I don't doubt you love your dogs, and I don't think you're abusing them ;)

I just wonder why you wouldn't think WTF then feed quality food.

Put it this way - if it was Bev..... I mean, if she lost X pounds because you changed her food - would you wait 10 days to change it back?

I really am just trying to understand.

I DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY!!! He is NOW on raw. To get a 30 pound bag of QUALITY food here you have to spend 50 DOLLARS. That is about 100 pounds european. There are places to help out with Bev, not the dog.

Thanks me too, there are COUNTLESS accounts of the same thing happening to other dogs, people besides me talking about the thing. Its not a ONE DOG PHENOMENOM.

Sorry, But I HAVE read each and every post.. in BOTH threads. and Have to Agree with most everything AC said and more especially Dizzy. She was thinking about the dog. Not how long you have been here or how many posts you have.

I just dont see how its justified.. I just dont get it.

Well, there are a few places that will help with the dog...some shelters do provide dog food to pet owners in need, but it's far from the norm, and likely they would've given you Gravy Train or something of that quality anyway. ;)

I called them, they said no. The one at home does but not here.
Breeze, I remember when you checked into that.

Exactly, and the stuff Izzy sent me lasted for close to 2 weeks but Jeremys bank account overdrafted by the time he got paid and we had NOOOO money left. Then we got it all figured out and they now are on RAW and doing the transition well.

I would suggest Putting A couple dollar's Every chance you get aside so this never happens again.
Even if it's just a change jug Just for the dog's.

We have them fed, and that week we had to do that to buy all of us food. Its not just the dogs that had to eat crap, we ended up eating hamburger helper and corn everynight that week because it was cheap and i got the milk to make it on wic.

Honestly... the first pic (the pic that all the fuss is about) he did too look thin. Scary thin, to me, but greyhounds are not my area of expertise ;) Even Tara, who was malnourished, was overweight. Sounds like an oxymoron, but she had the weight in all the wrong places. Like a pot belly. But I read your posts (and previous posts) and knew that you knew what was going on, and he's switching to raw, about the gravy train, etc. AND the way he was bent made the bones stick out even more.

THIS is NOT a emaciated dog. This was taken the same day a few minutes different from the other one!!!

Because he looks much better in this pic. Actually, I see greyhounds around here who look very much just like this pic.

^ This!
It is so easy to say "that'll never happen to me, that'll never happen to me." It IS happening to people, everyday. There are so many dogs in rescues - rescues are full, because of the economy and all that... people are losing everything, there homes, etc. Not knowing where they are going to live in 7 days, they call pleading with rescue to take their dog. It is truly sad. At least this dog has a great home, with a caring owner. And at least he's not out on the street the first time a hard situation comes around. I'm just saying.

I'm taking cuts at work. I'm sure if we made a poll a good portion of us have. We've cut back on things here and there. Its easy to say to someone else, put some spare money in a jar just for the dogs. But what happens when you need to dip in that pot of money so the heat can stay on during the winter? You do it. And as soon as you get back on your feet, you fix it.

Exactly this week Jeremy who is the only one who has a job here (i have tried since labor day to no avail) is only getting 12 HOURS at 10 dollars a hour. We are barely making it, hence us leaving here where we can.

He actually gauging that pic to a pic of one of the old racing dogs he is in shape, but i like him at 75 pounds even without the muscle he had back then.

The one that REALLY confuses me is how are people saying it about Walker even my mom said and AC said hes EXACTLY the weight he was that they saw him last. He has not lost weight, he lost a pound or so ish but as soon as he ate a few raw meals packed it back on. He doesnt lose as much as Scirocco.

Walker isn't remotely under weight. he looks to be in really good condition, like maybe he could run 20+ miles w/o collapsing.
