Rachel (girl wiith kittens) says she felt judged because she didn't have money for the vet. She said Cari (rescue lady) could only discount not pay vettng and Rachel had no money.

Now she says kitten is having some "balance issues". I mentioned this to Cari who goes on a tirade" she didn't give me the cats and now they need vetcare...she needs to pay a vet visit" "there's no telling what it is"
and then "we could ask for donations"

I type and ask if she still wants me to get them. (I can offer love food but not vetting)
No reply yet...

OMG. WHAT HAVE I GOT MYSELF IN TO!!!?

I just want to help the babies.:(

What you've gotten yourself into is a mess it looks like, but that's what sometimes happens to good people who care so much for animals. I feel for you. Hugs

Thanks Barb
It's gone from bad to horrible...
I finally got the rescue to agree to take the kittens if Rachel (the girl with the kittens) paid $30 and I paid $30 for the vet care.
It was all set up....we were going to pick them up tomorrow. We bought all our kitten supplies today.

Then I came home to message Rachel about tomorrow and had a message from her instead.....
The one that was sick died today...:(:(:(:(

It appears as if Cari (the rescue lady) had every right to be peeved with Rachel (girl with kittens) I talked to Cari to let her know what had happened. Cari said she had a feeling Rachel always knew how sick the kitten was....but kept being sketchy about taking her to the vet. I don't understand why she waited so long.
Now Rachel wants to know if we can still take the other one.
There is a Siamese mama with three babies we are going to take, if we can raise the money to get them out of the shelter.
I have informed Rachel if she will take the surviving kitten to get vetting (with Cari's discount it should be the same $30 she already said she could do) and give Cari another week to find another foster. Rachel has not responded. Rachel told me her family currently Foster's for Barc (another rescue here), they just had some adopted so should have foster openings. I mentioned that as well but she still hasn't responded.

I feel bad that we're not fostering the surviving kitten but my husband and I feel like there's not enough information and too much deceit/drama attached with Rachel. And have de tided to move forward and do what we can to help the Siamese family of cats instead.

I don't understand why you had to pay, your fostering not adopting. and then they are returned and go through the shelter's adoption process.. The shelter here provided all vet care, and supplied food and litter. THey were also on hand if there was health issue. I got a call back almost immediately when Ressie had her crisis. I am sorry for the kittens and for you and your family because although there is always risk that things might not turn out right, you should have had their support all the way through. If you decide to try again, I would contact your local shelter.
(((((HUGS))))) poor babies.

All our rescues work this way. The rescue has to pay the adoption fee of each animal it pulls. They never go back to the shelter, they stay at the foster home until they're adopted. The rescues have to find adopters. Then most of the rescues charge an adoption fee to help offset the cost. Our rescues only pay vet bills the foster is responsible for food, litter and in many rescues you have to agree to take your foster to adoption events twice a month.

I don't know why it's different here. It sure seems easier your way. As it is we're going to have to raise $85 to get my Siamese mama out. And we have to get another couple hundred for her vet care. She has what is possibly an eye infection from an old wound and an upper respiratory infection. She has 2 four week old babies and they added a 2 and a half week old that's not hers. Now they have 2 more 4 week Olds that their going to try her with tomorrow. I feel like they're asking a lot from her .....but if she accepts them, it's more saved.

Big, BIG difference between a shelter and a rescue. That's why it's different. Can't type Much right now, but posting to easily find the thread when I get home.

We were supposed to get Siamese mama and 3-5 kittens (depending on if she accepted the other two and only until they were weaned)
The owner came and picked up the Siamese mama, leaving even her own kittens!!
People are evil.
