I'm in the same boat as you. My 2 younger chickens have been molting and the older hens have quit laying, so I haven't had a fresh eggs in about a month. I can't bring myself to buy eggs at the store. I've looked at all the different varieties and nothing comes close to those rich yellow yolks I've become accustomed to.
Do you have a farmers market near you? That might be an option.
Also, I agree about the whole cholesterol issue. They have been all over the place as far as eggs being good vs/ bad. Today they're good for you, yesterday they were bad, so on and so forth. I continue to eat my eggs whenever and however I want [when I have them ;)], and I have no issues with cholesterol.
Every morning I go out in hopes there will be at least one egg waiting for me ;)! Oh well, tomorrow's another day. Until then I will have to deal with my egg cravings.....

We have Aldi in Australia. I love their canned herring, sardines, mackerel etc. Sometimes they have good quality, cheap produce as well. I've moved somewhere where there is no Aldi, so I packed 8 cans of sardines, 2 cans of mackerel and 4 cans of herrings. And no one is allow admittance from the south unless they can bring me a stash lol. I'll also miss my very cheap blueberries, but I don't think they travel so well.

My Aldi Review:

Thumbs down. When I arrived, I was excited by the selection of chocolate and cookies. The prices weren't fantastic, but the snacks looked great. I grabbed a flyer and saw some awesome deals: 39 cent grapefruit! 69 cent mangos! YAY. On the way to produce, we found milk for 2.99$ (which is almost $2 cheaper than most places, milk is nearly $5/gl at grocer's here). Score. Except, they didn't have 1%, which is what my family drinks.

Ok, small setback. We bought 2% anyway. THE PRODUCE IS IN SIGHT. I SEE THE GLORIOUS, RAVED ABOUT PRODUCE SECTION OF ALDI.

No. Pomegranates were completely shriveled to nothing. Strawberries and blackberries looked ok, but no cheaper than other stores. Plantains were completely black. Oranges were covered in black spots and mould. Bananas looked good and cheap, but were prebagged and you needed to buy about 10 of them. Those were the only fruits. There were no grapefruit or mangos. Or avocados.

Vegetables, not much better. They only had potatoes (cheap, in HUGE bags), carrots, radishes and garlic. The lettuces all looked slimy and wilted and gross.

So...I may venture back to Aldi in the summer, to see if it's any different, but for now, no...I won't be going back.

Milk's 1.99 at Aldi here. We get skim, so I never noticed what other kinds they have lol

10 bananas is NO PROBLEM in this house. We usually end up getting 3-4 bags of bananas at a time. Everyone loves them, including the dogs (i even gave the dogs bananas in their stockings lol). Seriously, it's one of the highest value treats for Logan.
