A geriatric incestuous paedophine (but nice with it!)

Our wirehaired fox terrier Toorak very surprisingly at the age of 14 succeeded in siring a litter with another pure-bred wiry to whom he was introduced; and his three-month-old daughter, Fille has come to live with us. They get on very well together, but keeps making passes - she gives him a belt round the ear, and he desists for about five seconds, but is then followimng her around again, his nose attached to her as with super-glue. The vet says 'Get her de-sexed as quickly as possible' - but we would rather like to breed from her, later. I'm hoping he'll just get bored with rejection, but . . . Any advice welcome! Neuter him. At his age, there's no need to breed him anymore.

Yes get him neutered, when she is ready she will let him breed and dogs dont care if they are realited or not

Thankf for that,m everyone. I should have explained that we brought him out from the UK and the professional breeder is keen to breed from him as long as he can manage it, because he is pure-bred and the fresh genes will be welcome in Australia where the pool of wirehaired fox terriers is restricted and they are getting a little in-bred. So while he can still cope and enjoys the work I'm reluctant to have him neutered.

I dont agree with breeding him at that age, but what are you going to do about his daughter

14 years old and managed to produce a litter. Impressive. To me that is fantastic and shows good solid long lived healthy lines. If it had been a female bred at an unacceptable age that would be much different.

There are 2 things you can do; Personally I would have the male nuetered...you have his daughter so no need to keep him intact. Or, send Fille or the male to a kennel for the entire heat cycle to keep any mistakes from happening. Trust me, mistakes can even happen to the "best" professional breeders.
