Hello all!

I have a few things to update about, and a few things to rant about.

# 1- Bruce is not doing too well with the puppy pads. We are trying really hard.. moving him to the pad when we catch him about to go, etc. He will go on the pad when we are in the kitchen but when we are out playing in the living room he goes where he pleases. I am just looking forward to when he had all of his shots so I can take him out side the complex and teach him to go OUTSIDE.

How old are puppies when they can start controlling their bladder a little more?

# 2- Bruce had a field trip and his first puppy play date! One of my best friends has a fenced in yard where only their dog has been. She is up to date with all of her shots.. and is a great dog to introduce Bruce to. She could care less about him haha. He came over, tried to play with her and she just kinda.. stared at him. He went ZOOMMM all over the yard (but never getting too far from me. It made him nervous) and got really muddy and dirty. MAN did he have a big bright smile on his face. Lets just say, he had a blast.

Picture of him at Uncle Pats sitting on their front walk in the yard.

# 3- Bruce is a ninja. I bought a gate to keep him in the kitchen during the day. It is much much taller than him. He learned how to jump it this week. I came home, and hes just chilling on the other side looking at me.

So- I went out and bought a super tall gate. The lady said that even though the bars are further apart, there is no way he could get through it.

My attempt to fix Bruce jumping the gate. - YouTube

yeah.. that didn't work.

So we shoved a huge box on the other side of it and I hope it works. Ha.

He's doing really well other than that. He loves his people, and has such a great loving personality. I am a mess for this dog. <3

I am trying to teach him down- but it is taking awhile. I decided to take the clicker training slower than originally planned.. working on one command until he literally has it inside and out and moving on. Right now, he just has sit. Down he is responding to about 40-50% of the time. He will get there.

Right now though.. my biggest frustration is the puppy pads. I don't really mind the accidents- he pees like a drop and his poopie is so small. Ha. I just want to make sure that he will eventually get the puppy pads.. and then moving on from that to just going outside.

I had to laugh when he walked thru the gate....sorry. The gate I have looks like yours but the spaces are very small; you might want to check out another brand.

As soon as he starts to go potty where he shouldn't, pick him up and place him on the puppy pad that you're using. This way he learns where to go. Remember he is little so it's going to take some time but keep bringing him over to the pad more often.

Also remember to take him to the potty pad even before he starts to have an accident. Think of it just like what you have to do when he potties outside: take him out after he eats and drinks to see if he has to go.

The way he walks through those bars is priceless...

Sounds like he is doing pretty well.
