I would imagine it'd be fine if your camera has no other option. If your camera does have a good B&W option, definitely use it. When you're shooting in B&W versus colour, it makes composition choices, ISO, and other things all VERY different than in colour!

Yeah, if you need to shoot in color and then change to black and white that is fine :)

My camera has a b/w setting, but it's not good. It's just a P&S, and my options are to shoot action OR macro OR twilight OR black and white, so it's junk. If I could set what would suit the photo (say action) and then change the settings to make it black and white it would be different.

Fortunately since Millie's black and white she makes a great subject for teh monochrome. :D
