Crosspost IVDD and Older Agility Dog

My 9 year old Champion agility dog has recently been diagnosed with a pinched nerve due to disc disease (mild). He has never had any issues. Does this mean our career is over even if he recovers? Is anyone familiar with this?

    IVDD (disc disease) and Agility?

Does anyone here have experience with IVDD or some sort of disc disease issues in their older agility dogs? My 9 yr old C-ATCH Wrigley just started having trouble. Luckily it is not bad (he can still walk just not jump or climb over things very well)--so surgery is not in the cards yet. Just...

    Many Problems training new puppy..

I am sure I am failing in some way but it's difficult when your other two dogs were so easy to train. With Wrigley I just watched him like a hawk--he had maybe 5 accidents and had no problem at 10 weeks holding it for 10 hours. He tried crying maybe once or twice and I yelled be quiet and he...

    Puppy Laying on Older Dog

Our newest family member (now 7/8 months old) likes to lay over our older male dog. He will place his two front paws right over the middle of the back of my older male dog and lay there-- Should I not allow this behavior? The older dog puts up with it--although he is not friends with the puppy.

Wrigley Growled at me This morning!

Wrigley is a very well trained dog in the house and when it comes to food. Yes he is a food obsessed dog but since he was very little we have worked with him to have him sit and wait for a release word to eat--and even can get him to stop eating and sit and wait for the release again (so he...

    Labradoodle breeder in town

There is an article in our local newspaper about a Labradoodle breeder in town. I don't like the timing of this article (right before christmas) and also do not like that it says they breed 3 sizes--oh besides the obivous that they are mutts-- It does mention health testing and that they only...

    Our first foster--very cute puppy!

This is our first time fostering. This pup (currently un-named but we are thinking of calling him Curly)--was abandoned in an apartment with 4 cats. Luckily they knew right away (I'm sure he was crying a lot) and the landlord let them take the animals. They have him listed as shepherd mix and...

    Taking the plunge into fostering!

I had heard from a fellow dog park member that our local humane society is desparate for foster homes so I decided to take the plunge and fill out and turn in an application today to foster a small/medium sized dog. Within the hour they called me and had a few different choices for me in the...

Honey=Randomly Crying in the Night--Me=Going Insane!

I have no idea what is going on with Honey but it needs to stop or I am going to go insane. Sunday (7/27) she got a bath so I let her out potty before the bath at like 8pm and then didn't put her back out again as I didn't want her rolling in the dirt. So in the middle of the night (2am or so)...

Dogs make trip to Indiana Pot Holes!

The Pot Holes is a nature conservatory where there is a sandstone creek bed--and in places there are holes that have been carved out. Some are a foot deep and a foot wide--others are about 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep. We brought the dogs for a day of adventure. Wrigley likes swimming in still...

    Help making adoption application!

I have put an ad in our local paper about our unofficial foster dog. He is a 5 mo old BC/pit mix rescued from an unsavory relative who was way in over his head with pups. Everyone else I have found a good home for. This guy has issues--submissive/excited urination--fear issues ect. He is...
