    Dog Insurance

thanks for the input... the "money into a savings account" idea sounds interesting... i'll keep that in mind as an option... but my real question was whether or not those "select illnesses" are probably the ones I'll encounter if I do unfortunately encounter an illness with my dog. so...

    Dog Insurance

Hi, I was recently looking into getting my 4-year old dog insurance cause I've heard some stories from friends that were very thankful for getting it because of unexpected accidents to their dogs. I was looking at PC Financial's pet insurance... the plan that I am interested in only covers...

    Beneful is all she eats....

if there really is nothing wrong with the dog, sticking with beneful wouldn't be the end of the world... it's not of very high quality but your dog would survive fine on it... you can keep trying to find samples of different foods to see if she'll change her mind or fall in love with...

    Yogurt

what about in terms of calcium content? the label says 20% of daily recommended (human) amount of calcium for a 175g serving... will a tablespoon or two of the yogurt, mixed with kibbles, affect the calcium balance?

    Yogurt

hey guys, i've got a question about yogurt. i just picked up a small cup of organic plain yogurt by "liberty"... i was told yogurt fed to dogs should be low-fat... it has a 2.5% M.F.... is that good enough? and is it okay if its completely non-fat yogurt? i noticed they had a non-fat...

Why don't foods like Innova Advertise?

it cost a LOT of money to run even just one commercial... and these small-market companies just don't have the financial ability to do so. they rely on the responsible pet owners who will take the time to research what they are feeding their dogs. but keep in mind, lots of dogs thrive on...

    No Grain Foods

not that bad of an idea... but maybe try using a brand of food that's got different sources of protein from the others... they all seem pretty similar (chicken&turkey)

Royan Canin (I can't believe I'm saying this)

it's not the best quality food out there... but it's better than a lot of them. my 4 yr old maltese-mix is currently eating the special 30 mini... he's really picky... and he eats this well enough... the other foods he's been on we've had to REALLY entice him to eat by adding stuff like...

    Vets and Dog Food

every food is different for every dog. if your dog is thriving on it... why change it? but if you see need/room for improvement, seek it. some dogs thrive on "lower-quality" food and some don't. same concept for "higher-quality" food... there really is a lot of biased information out...

Do you see anything wrong with this method?

mordy... there's ABSOLUTELY no truth to kibble helping clean teeth? cause it does make sense, logically, that hard foods that crunch, like kibble, would help to scrape down some plaque and would be less likely to remain on the teeth (compared to wet food that may leave residue)? i don't...

    Agree or disagree?

I completely agree. Do your research and then feed what you are comfortable with. Don't get pressured into feeding something you feel uneasy about, as long as you've done the research and are providing a decent food for your dog.

    Agree or disagree?

I don't think you should look negatively at your vet because of this newsletter. It's his opinion and he does has his points, cause it is based on his experience. As for BARF, I understand the benefits of it since it really is more of a natural diet, but there is the worry of handling raw...
