    Hi!

What handsome pups! Is Bonzai's tongue really that enormous? Looks like it might drag on the ground! :)

Hey Wisconsinites! Come to a fun-filled protest!

I understand the confusion, though. The medical college representative said that they only get dogs meant to be euthanized, which contradicts what their dealer says.

Hey Wisconsinites! Come to a fun-filled protest!

They get the dogs from Ken Schroeder, a USDA Class B "random source" dog dealer based in Minnesota. He has been quoted as saying he gets the dogs from breeding them and from acquaintances (see Milwaukee Journal article by Suzanne Rust March 2006). He is also authorized to get them from...

Hey Wisconsinites! Come to a fun-filled protest!

Ok, I know protests aren't fun. I'm not really an activist, but this one is truly important and local for some of us. Where: medical college of wisconsin, 8700 W. Watertown Plank Road When: 12 Noon, Thursday, Jan 25 Why: to protest the use of lab dogs used in the 1st year physiology course...

60 Dogs to be Killed at Medical College

Good points here... the dogs at the medical college are NOT necessary the beagle dogs that are bred specifically for vet schools. The dogs are bought from a USDA Class B Random Source dealer out of Minnesota. This classification means that he can obtain them from random sources, which can...

    Does Chloe look too skinny

I think she looks great - you can't see her ribs protruding or anything. It's funny how she looks like an hourglass type figure from above!

60 Dogs to be Killed at Medical College

Miakoda! I totally respect your rational point here... but it's not a Vet school... it ABSOLUTELY makes sense for vets to practice on animals - they will be future patients, and when they use animals responsibly, that's a different situation. These students are future physicians... if they...

60 Dogs to be Killed at Medical College

http://www.themilwaukeechannel.com/video/10673391/index.html The Medical College of Wisconsin is about to use 60 innocent dogs in a 1st year student physiology course. The dogs are sedated, cut open, experimented on, then killed. The college is one of 2 in the country that still uses dogs...

    Merry Christmas from the Reindeer!

She does look innocent. My question, though, is, Did she eat the antlers afterwards?? :)

Hi again, from Barley and I.

It's good to be back! I was so unhappy with my job, and my dogs knew it, too. Now I come home smelling like all sorts of critters and they tackle me to the ground! Love the holiday pics, Buddy, and Jess - Chloe looks like she's a great huntress!

Hi again, from Barley and I.

Hi all, It's been a long time since I've been on (2 months!). I quit a horrible soul-sapping job and now work at my local humane society and love my job, so I'll be on more. Pics below are Barley - he's a year now! And still photogenic. I hope these images aren't too big - I forgot how to...

    Teaching Puppy to Swim

Another good trick is to "borrow" a friend's dog that DOES swim. We did that with Barley, and he got jealous that my brother's dog was retrieving all the sticks, so he followed the older dog right into the water.

    Chow Chows

I have a chow mix who is 9 months old now. We socialized him heavily when we first got him, yet as he gets older, he seems to be more wary of strangers... especially groups of men/teens in the neighborhood. He loves kids, though - it's weird. I think that as much as I've socialized him...

Dog testing where I work! Help!

I started browsing jobs again tonight. It's so rough! I just finished my master's degree, and it's been so tight financially. I'm an Editor in a biophysics department, but my boss has been introducing me as his secretary. If I was his secretary, that would be fine. But I didn't get a...

Dog testing where I work! Help!

these dogs would be put down anyway See, that's part of the problem... they wouldn't be put down anyway. The guy that acquires the dogs gets them the following ways: 1. adoptions from humane societies that are unaware of his purpose, 2. he breeds them, 3. stray dogs from the pound. If I...

Dog testing where I work! Help!

(I need all the help I can get, so I'm selfishly posting this in the Fire Hydrant forum too) Hi all. I've been absent for a while. I started a new job, and it's been nutty. I'm finally well-paid, and the benefits are amazing, and I like it. Not in love with it, but like it. Here's the...

Please help my conscience! Dog testing.

Hi all. I've been absent for a while. I started a new job, and it's been nutty. I'm finally well-paid, and the benefits are amazing, and I like it. Not in love with it, but like it. Here's the problem: I just found out that they experiment on dogs. Not only do they do surgeries on...

    Chaz Dogs *ATM*

Oso is sleeping under the covers with my husband. Barley is sleeping, paws up, on the couch downstairs. I am the nocturnal one in the household! :)
