Housebreaking in the Cold White North

I have a 5 month shih-tzu in Michigan, and it is either snowy, rainy, or muddy! I seem to be alone in this, but I LOVE pee pads, we have had 100% success with them, and I never have a worry. When we go rving he uses the pad in there too. When we camp where it's mild weather he has no trouble...

    Spaying

I had mine spayed at 4months, he was 8 pounds at the time. He did very well, recovered quickly- only acted a little sore on day two. No regrets! Though it was very hard to drop him off for the day, but when I picked him up later that day he was sooo excited, lots of kisses!!! He was great...

I agree, my puppy was back to himself within hours! A month later he is still the crazy kid he was pre-neutering!

    Frustrated with housebreaking

rvm Take a deep breath, forget about yesterday, start anew. HELP YOUR PUP. You said your pup was a pekeapoo? Small breeds can easily use pee pad for any length of time, some forever. We have had 100% success with pee pads, maybe you could have some success trying those. Baby steps! Best...

    puppy food?

There seems to be so much debate over foods. I just got a puppy recently that was on eukeneuba and doing fine, but I switched to solid gold hundchen flocken, any opinions? Also he prefers some real food mixed in like fish, lamb, steak, whatever we happen to be having! Is a little bit mixed in...

Thanks, I was wondering about the jumps myself. They are only about six inches right now so he's basically just running the course. Do you think that is to much, he really seems to like it!

When is okay to feed puppy 2 times a day?

My shih kind of let me know, around 4 months, he lost interest in his lunch. Now he get a small breakfast, a small handful of kibble during the day for training and then dinner.

    new shih

Hello! Just a quick intro, I am a first timer proud owner of an adorable shih-tzu. He's been great, pee pad trained from the go, learned to sit, down, shake, sit pretty, roll over, and now loves doing jumps (we made some low jumps and put them in the work out room) for cold winter exercise...

    My Puppy -vs- My Daughter

Oh, also I wouldn't expect to much to change with his behavior after neutering. It's just my experience, but mine didn't miss a beat!!

    My Puppy -vs- My Daughter

I had a similar problem. My pup would only growl at my youngest child when she would try to pick him up. She was doing everything right, so I figured he was attemting to dominate her, his last chance to not be at the bottom of the pecking order! So I put my youngest in charge of feeding and...
