Travelling with Puppy on a plane

Yikes! I just checked to see how long a potential flight is from Calgary to Halifax...8-10 hours. 10 hours without the puppy being able to eliminate...that's not good!

Travelling with Puppy on a plane

Good idea with the ziplock bags and wipes. This is an experienced breeder and she has sent some puppies over the years to the US with no problems. It's just really too bad that the local breeder just wasn't up to par for my standards.

Travelling with Puppy on a plane

Yea, I thought about the pee pads and just taking the pup into the bathroom stall and holding her while she went. Not sure if that would be allowed though for sanitary reasons? I'm leaning toward the pup being flown down directly to us. It will be in the cargo section of the plane but it...

Travelling with Puppy on a plane

Not really. See, the breeder can send the pup in heated cargo at the age of 10 weeks direct from Calgary to Halifax. That is the age they are safe for that type of travel. By having the stopover in Toronto, it makes the day of travel twice as long for the pup as we have wait times until the...

Travelling with Puppy on a plane

Hey there, I have recently decided to change breeders from where we will be getting our brittany in the spring. This breeder is in Alberta but will meet me in Toronto (I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia) for me to pick up the pup. So the pup will be in the cabin the whole flight. My question...

    K-9 Advantix or Frontline?

Is it a good idea to still treat for heartworm prevention though, just in case?

    dog friendly

Yes, the breeder we getting "her" from has been breeding them for 13 years and he uses them for hunting. Ours will be a companion pet, partaking in flyball or some sort of exercise like that. He fully guarantees the health and temperment of his pups. I've gone onto hunting websites where...

Items to have with a new puppy

Hi everyone, I have a few questions on supplies we should have when he get our new Brittany puppy in the spring. I'm a newbie so go easy on me, lots of questions :) 1. Should we buy a wire-adjustable crate to grow with the puppy or buy a few different sized plastic-styled crates...

    Proposed Crate Training Schedule...

Canidae is an all-stages food, correct? They don't have puppy formula like the others (that's what I read on their website). We haven't told our son about the puppy yet as he wouldn't understand the timeframe in which a puppy is obtained. He'd want it like today :) We thought about maybe...

    Proposed Crate Training Schedule...

I have already purchased two books on brittanys...one by Beverly Millette and one by Richard Beauchamp (this is Kennel Club book). The second one much more informative in terms of details. It even has a little page to keep track of vaccinations :) I'll check out that thread! Oh one other...

I have been researching for six months now, no joke! I must be driving my husband nuts :) I'm glad the schedule makes sense..it does to me but I'm no pro when it comes to pets. I've never had one. We have finally decided on a Brittany. We are an active family and have a 10 year old son. At...

When to take a puppy to kindergarten class?

You'd think that the puppies would be ok all together in one safe place (as most puppy owners should know to expose their dogs to any others until shots are done). 12 weeks should be ok, it's afte their second round of shots...maybe 13 weeks?
