Please help pup with bad knee options???

Your welcome. I know how devestasting this can be. When the vet was explaining to me how bad my Rotties hips were I was so upset her voice sounded like a droning in the background. With my Newf, if she had a full rupture I would definately opt for surgery...the only thing that would hold me...

Please help pup with bad knee options???

For the Ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament is it just a partial tear or a ruptured ligament. For one of my Newf's she had a Ruptured Cruciate ligament when she was 5 (poor structure, nothing to do with weight). We had the surgery done as a full rupture cannot heal properly. If it's just a...

how do I report a backyard breeder?

I've seen some so called reputable show breeders that are horrible breeders as well. One gentleman who breeds and show (and very respected member of the CKC) and he is a judge as well....he bred a 13 year old Newf  Every one knew, but what can you do. Even in my area the SPCA has an...

    Weight Lost

As every one mentioned, eat less, exercise more. Some of these quick weight loss programs may work...but, most people go back to their orginal way of eating and gain all the weight back plus more. The secret to losing weight is to learn a whole new lifestyle and a new way of eating. Try to...

    Ghosts/paranormal do you believe? Experiences?

I don't believe. I do believe our minds can play some weird tricks on us though. I have seen things that at first my mind has perceived as being a ghost, monster and going in for a closer inspection turned out to be a bag, or a shadow etc. :D I also believe that some people suffer from...

    Dobes!

I've had 2 Dobes and I can describe both with one word...velcro dogs. I don't think a dobe is happy unless it is touching it's owner at all times. I don't think a Dobe is complete unless they have the curve of your back for a bed. They are a very touch type dog.

I need baby shower help..any ideas????

I hate showers to, I gave a shower awhile ago and just had lucky plate and lucky cup...and just gossiped. For snacks I made a wonderful salad of baby spinach and poppy seed dressing. Don't make ahead of time, put the baby spinach in a bowl, put roasted almonds on top and strawberries and...

    dog on furniture and beds

There are no problems with letting your dogs on the couch or on your bed. What matters is the rules in the house and the fact that your dog obeys you when you ask them to get off. This is where the NIFIL policy comes in handy. All my dogs get on the couch and all my dogs sleep in bed...3 with...

What did you name your dog and why?

All of my Newfoundland dogs were previously named before I got them, so I had no choice. For Athena, her orginal name by her negectful owner was Zena...I hated that name but like the greek mythology idea...so I named her Athena which has the same ring to it and I love that name. For Beau, he...

Hannah jumps on my husband, but not me

She is still very young. I would try working with your husband and guests...when Hannah jumps, have your husband cross his arms and turn his back on Hannah. You can even have him do this on a leash, she jumps have him stop put his foot on the leash, cross his arms and ignore her. When she...

For all the Show dogs/owners out there

What do you mean, training or grooming? training is really a breeze to get a dog to learn to look for bait and stand...the breeder took my dogs for a quick round and had them perfected in a few minutes...I guess it's all in knowing how to bait the dog. I had shown Shepherds before (only a...

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.. anyone..

Most purebred dogs are being overbred. The NSDTR is not as overbred as some of the other Retrieving breeds. As for the pink pigment...the nose, lips and eye rims are supposed to be flesh colored, or they can blend with the coat...black is also acceptable. :)

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.. anyone..

I live next to the province where the breed orginated. They are a dime a dozen here :) We actually had a few at the Vet clinic picked up by the SPCA and given away to good homes.

I would contact a holistic Vet. If there are liver problems Milk Thistle is a great liver support herb. Of course check with a holistic vet first.

Odd Bump On Back/Spine - After Grooming

With a tick they are normally (depending on the breed) a greyish color (in my area any way) and you can see a little bit of a line around the skin and the start of the tick where it is in the skin...you can tell that its not just a growth by seeing this unnatural line. Or, it could just be an...
