Grooming a Silky Coton de Tulear I have a silky coton dog. Does any know how I can take the bulkiness out of his coat without clipping him down. I used a furminator but that doesn't work on him. Would thinning shears work?

I have a silky coton dog does anyone know if thinning shears would help with taking the bulkiness out of this coat. I have used a furminator and that doesn't work and I don't want to clip him short. Any suggestions?
