    Solution for fireworks terrors

Hi- our dog is terrified of fire works, and shakes for hours on end. We tried sedatives and other remedies, but nothing helped. We have now found the perfect solution for us. We find a hotel that takes dogs...preferably some place in the middle of nowhere far from any planned firework...

    Anal gland nightmare!

My poor dog has issues with her anal sacs getting full and having them expressed about every 3 weeks. Now they are infected. We have done two rounds of antiobiotics. One side looks good, the other still infected. So, the vet infused them today with a steroid/antibiotic. I am worried we will...

    Anal glands

My dog has real issues with this. I have to have hers expressed about once a month. If not, they get really full and she starts scooting and licking a lot.

3 dogs my dog seems to hate...why?!

I guess that does make sense that not all people are nice, so not all dogs are nice. Zoe must sense this. It's fascinating the way they "know" each other. When she sees a dog she likes, even from afar she will go completely apeshit with joy. I love that.

3 dogs my dog seems to hate...why?!

Zoe is 7. I have no idea of the ages of the other dogs. It's bizarre and kind of freaks me out. She's such a sweet natured dog and to see her bear her teeth and growl is scary!

3 dogs my dog seems to hate...why?!

My sweet, normally submissive dog has a very aggressive reaction to three specific dogs in our neighborhood. They are completely different dogs: a female great dane, a male bulldog, and a male husky. The great dane and she had a run in a couple of years ago. They were playing, and the dane took...

    Read the fine print!!

The problem we found is they have low caps. I wonder if they base these costs on areas of the country that are less expensive in general. We live in an expensive area in California. Their cap for a dog bite was $325 and our bill was over $1200. It doesnt make sense to me, but we are definitely...

Do NOT use VPI insurance in CA

Wow. I guess it's called read the fine print. VPI has caps on all illnesses and injuries. We've been paying $35 a month with a $250 deductible for years. Zoe had a UTI that cost us $1100, and their maximum was $440. She was bit by another dog, had surgery, etc. Our ER bill was over $1200-...

    Read the fine print!!

We have VPI Insurance, which we pay over $400 per year in premiums. Zoe got an ecoli infection and the treatments which included an X-ray to make sure she didn't have stones has so far cost about $1000. We have a $250 deductible, but VPI is only reimbursing us $400 because for this illness...

Can't get rid of Ecoli and UTI!

6 weeks ago, Zoe (6 year old lab/border collie mix) woke us up in the middle of the night panting- which means she NEEDS to go out! Took her out and she peed about 10 times. Took her to the vet next day and sent urine to the lab- she had ecoli. Put her on an antiobotic (note, cannot use Cipro...
