Neither I nor my dogs have ever forcibly pinned another dog. We've had other dog's roll on their backs for us, by their choice.
The whole notion of another dog forcibly doing that to another is ridiculous. We've seen Millan trying that with dog's that he outweighs by 2-3X and even with 2...
Last time I passed through Heathrow, the working dog I saw was a Springer Spaniel. There are a number of breed (Brittanys, Harriers, etc) that can work on detection and even if they went nuts would do a lot less damage.
A malinois should not look like this under any circumstances found in a show ring. There is a reason why they are used as military dogs by military and police organizations. A dog that shows this behaviour has the wrong temperament for a Mal.
DanL is right, when I see a show Mal like this...
This was just another example of why I (for the most part) despise the whole show fancy. Any malinois that showed this type of temperament would not even be allowed in the ring.... It wouldn't matter if it was the most perfect and beautiful animal ever put on earth. The people pay lip service...
Munch, munch, munch..... (takes a swig of a nice chianti)
One thing, it's not on the 3rd volume it's on the 1st and no wonder I didn't remember, the whole section is only 2/3rds of a column.
This is what it reads.
This trainer sounds like they are using quackery language to sell something that everyone else calls chaining.
The reason you can't find any info on it is because he just made it up and there is no such thing.
According to other studies, they are pretty healthy. Many dogs don't get vet care, even in NA, so what's your point. And do you have any documentation that these dogs are transmitting diseases?

I like watching dogs. I mostly like watching...
I agree, I hope they never get popular. Even know, I see people in my clubs (I do ring and schutz) that really should not have these dog. I for one never promote the breed. I often tell people mine are GSD mixes.
My experience is similar. I foster Mals from fools who thought they wanted a...
Schutzhund is 3 disciplines (tracking, obedience, bitework), Ring also 3 (agility, protection, obedience). Are you seriously suggesting that running around in circles for 30 seconds even compares to this?
Malinois should not be owned by most people, I don't think they should even be in shows. They are not normal dogs. The Border Collie Association in Canada fought the CKC (and lost) because they wanted to keep the working ability of the dog. Showing has never done any breed any good. And...
I don't understand. A recall is a recall. If properly trained and reinforced it will work under difficult conditions. I've never trained an "emergency recall" Can you explain how an emergency recall is different than a regular recall? With the assumption that the dog responds to the...
Worse it that condemning a working dog to run around a ring is cruel and the handler is going to be disappointed because that will not be enough. There is a reason you don't see that many Malinois or Belgians in the show ring, they are suited to better things.
And yes, handler aggression is...
