Social Anxiety/Depression (whine, but need advice)

Grace, I don't think you can really reach any major decision EITHER way about meds or no meds without first seeing a *good* and ethical therapist or psychologist (I would shy away from psychiatrists since they're usually all about MEDS MEDS MEDS!). A diagnosis can't just be made in a few...

    Voodoo is going today

I mostly lurk on this forum, but the Horsemen have been two of my favorites since I got here. I just thought I'd let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Computer Whizzes -- help please

Just a little bump to say thank you to all who helped -- thankfully it *wasn't* bad RAM and was just an incompatible driver. After about an hour on the phone with HP support (and one extended warranty later -- 3 years additional [to the 1 year manufacturer's that came with the product] with...

    Computer Whizzes -- help please

Just got it Thursday, so yes. I guess I know what I'm doing after dinner tonight. Is there any sure fire way to tell it's the RAM? I really don't want to be computerless for longer than I have to be, and I'm sure the *Geek Squad* at our local Best Buy (the only option, unfortunately) isn't...

    Computer Whizzes -- help please

GO - I'm operating off the laptop right now. Vista is up and running. I get the BSOD, restart, get a prompt asking if I'd like to find out what caused the problem and see if Microsoft can fix it (NOT!) or if I'd like to just try and start normally... Usually I can start normally, but for some...

    Computer Whizzes -- help please

Windows Update didn't find anything of consequence... no driver updates. Under device manager in the control panel, there's an "update device drivers" that just pulls up a device manager.... I could manually check for driver updates through that.

    Computer Whizzes -- help please

No external cards ... is there any way I can find out which driver is compatible? Or even better, just how/where do I find a list of the drivers I *have*, so I can try and figure it out myself? (Thank you sooooo much, by the way)

    What Does Your Dog Do?

Sledding, backpacking, and Rally-O. (And being a damned good guard dog, for a Malamute)

    Computer Whizzes -- help please

So, I'm getting a BSOD ... on my brand new freaking laptop. It's just a little frustrating. I can obviously boot up, but it takes at *least* two tries. I thought I found the solution in a Symantic upgrade, but nope -- same BSOD error message. I'm getting IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (which I'm...

What type of Books do you read (If you read!)

I read a TON and usually all of it can be classified in that funny genre called "Literary Fiction," but I am known to read some chick lit and romance (a girl's got to have a lite read for those summer days at the beach :) and those winter nights in front of the fire). I just finished Rand's...

    itunes/ipod question

It shouldn't delete everything on the ipod -- make sure you set it to manually update, rather than automatic sync though. And as for songs from ipod to itunes, you're going to have to get a 3rd party program. I suggest ephPod, it's really simple to use -- and FREE! Just google ephPod.

do men prefer girl dogs/women prefer boy dogs?

I have a female and a male dog.... CoCoa's a manipulative little hobiscuit, but I think that's more her personality and breed mix more than her gender. She's very cuddly if you ask her to, but she's also a manipulative whiner. Rien's independently clingy. He's not a velcro dog, but he's a...

I hope I don't offend anyone with this...

I have two purebred pets, one dog, one cat. I intended the dog to be a competitive show dog. However, he decided to come across a delicious cat toy and swallow it whole, getting his digestive system in a bundle for a whole month during his major growth period. He's now a little bit of a...

I've come to the conclusion that people suck

*From the sounds of what you post* you sound like you are in a deep deep hole full of denial. If you don't start digging now, the bottom will give out on you eventually. Stop using others as an aide to escape your own problems and start examining yourself.

    Don't pet the puppy!

I like the cane idea ;) Seriously though, people see puppy and they automatically want to pet it. Usually around here children are much better about asking to pet a dog than their parents are. However, neither age group seems to EXPECT a "No." I'm not afraid to tell skeezeballs who...

    Service dogs

Some days, mine would. Those are the days I stick to dog friendly places where I can take my old hand, CoCoa. As my condition progresses, which it is unfortunately doing, these days are going to be more frequent. I don't think there is ever going to be a flood of service dogs. The...

    We brought home Garnet!!!

The Dobes I know have very, very sensitive stomachs (they're rescues as well). If the bag's that small, you might want to start weaning him onto something better now. EDIT to clarify: That is, you might want to start weaning him now so you can use even smaller New food to Old food ratios...

    Service dogs

As far as my experiences here in Nort'ern Minnesota, people are only comfortable with service dogs if they're wearing your typical leather harness or if they're accompanied by someone in a wheelchair. In my work at a skeezy chain retail store, I've noticed many people who decide that they're...

    Service dogs

if/When I need a Service Dog, I'm going to get certification through Delta, simply because if my SDit can't pass that test then it shouldn't be out in public and I've been known to have a rather biased view of my dogs. I think ID/Certification for the dog is fine and nice, but there's...

    Service dogs

This feels to me like an invasion of privacy, though I'm sure it's not what you meant it to be. Not all Service Dogs are *visible disability* service dogs. There's Fibromyalgia, Autism, Epilepsy, Diabetes, and all sorts of people with psychiatric problems who need a service dog for whatever...
