My dog keeps biting my roommate?

Hello everyone!

So I have an issue here.... I have a little min pin and he is the light of my life! There is just one problem.... he bites my boyfriend.... and my roommate.... I'm getting really upset because now my boyfriend and roommate are getting aggressive with him which leads him to bite more! What I mean by aggressive is that they will push him out of the room. I know dogs don't like it when you clip their nails, but he even bites me when doing that or brushing his teeth. I don't know why he does this. This has been an on going thing. He even bites my dad and barks at him! I don't know what to do. Please help!

Start training your dog early, Dogs are good associative learners if he bites your friends then you need to teach your dog not to bite and give proper training to him.

Agree with the commentator above, dog behaviourist is not excess here.

Not just dog training, but also some, ah...people training as well? Just gentle reminders on how to respond to a dog to de-escalate instead of escalate an aggressive situation?

Train your dog very well. Never play roughly with a puppy that bites. Rough play will only encourage this behavior and strongly establish it in the puppy's mind. Never use your hands as toys. You should also closely watch children playing around or with the puppy. Kids are not equipped to train a puppy and injuries can happen.

You could start with discouraging the pup's rough behaviour by just ignoring him when he tries to bark at people. Usually when they bark at people and get a response, they will think it's a good way of communication. As for the biting, I don't really know how to help you with that.

I would *highly* suggest calling on a professional. Please don't just take advice from the internet for biting. While it can often be good advice, for the wrong dog or implemented incorrectly, it can become very dangerous. A professional can come in, see how your dog and roommates are interacting, and discover the root cause of the biting.

As for the nail thing, look up "Counter Conditioning." You should also ask your trainer about this when you call them to help you.
