    "Easy" dog breeds

Like everyone else says, I think it definitely depends on the person. English bulldogs are great for folks who want a dog that doesn't need a lot of exercise and is mostly a couch potato, as long as they are prepared for the possible health issues. But if someone is looking for a running...

    People Names, Yay or Nay?

Old lady names all the way. We've had bulldogs Myrtle and Bertha, and our current two are Olga and Lola. I guess on the whole, I prefer names that are technically human names, but not something you're likely to run into a bunch of people with the name.

    Pet peeves of pet owners

I see this all the time at the shelter I volunteer at. We have one there right now that our adoption coordinator labeled as a Korean Jindo mix. While there might be some teeny, tiny chance that this dog might have some tiny big of Jindo in it, odds are it's just another shep/lab/hound mix Heinz 57.

When you get old and creaky

I'm sure I'll still have at least one or two English Bullies. Maybe an older mid sized shelter mutt, or something small from a shelter might make its way in there.

    Weird pricing at shelters.

The county shelter I volunteer at charge $70 for dogs and $40 for cats, with the fee going down to $16 for pets over the age of 6. They also lower fees the longer an animal has been there. There's been some discussion about raising fees for puppies, small breeds, etc., but hasn't really gone...

Do your neighbours have dogs? If so, what?

Let's see-right next door is a long haired dachshund, sweet dog probably doesn't get as much attention as he should. Across the street a lady, has I think, 4-5 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. She mainly lets them out in her back fence, so not sure of the exact number. There is a golden that's a...

Weird things your dogs are scared of?

Olga, my English Bulldog, is petrified of windshield wipers. She will start yowling and trying to paw at them is you turn them on. She hates them so much, she started going after the TV when "Driving Miss Daisy" was on and there was a scene with them in the car with the windshield wipers on. She...

If Your Posts Don't Show Up

I had a reply to my intro thread last night that still hasn't posted. The thread is titled "Hello from Florida."

    Hello from Florida!

Thanks. I'm from just outside Tampa. Florida summers are not exactly ideal English Bulldog weather, but we make due with walks and outside time after the sun goes down.

    Hello from Florida!

I joined a few days ago and am really enjoying reading so far. We currently have three English bulldogs. Lola Tootsie Olga along with our first foster from Florida English Bulldog Rescue, Iris.
