Nordic Naturals fish oil can't hurt that's for sure! We take their people version and give our dog the pet version...the only difference being flavor, I believe. Good luck.

You might try a natural calming supplement. Cranimals Zen Dog Calming Biscuits has pumpkin extract in them which is supposed to be a natural source of tryptophan. I'd say it would be worth a shot over Xanax. Check this link out for some natural options...

I agree with the others on checking into her food. You might also try a high quality fish oil. My dog had dry itchy skin and we switched her fish oil to Nordic Naturals. It's a bit more expensive but it did seem to help. Here's a link...

I've found that when my dog started licking/chewing herself it was because of dry skin. I give her an omega 3 fish oil from nordic naturals (http://www.luckydogvitamin.com/nordic-naturals-omega-3-pet-8oz.html) and we haven't had any issues. Hope this helps.
