    Pancreatitis...son's dog..

I know diet is extremely important. Does anyone know the name of a good canned food for this illness? Also he just told me this, too...:" she poops and then tries again 4 or 5 times, with very little coming out, and I guess from the straining, starts to bleed a little.. this can't be good"...

    Pancreatitis...son's dog..

The dog had an appt at the vet today and they took blood for testing. He will find out later if there is an improvement. He thought she was feeling a bit better as she was outside barking at a squirrel that was up a tree..:)... always a good sign that a dog is having fun... the main symptom...

    Pancreatitis...son's dog..

My son emailed me and said his 9 yr old chihuahua is in the throes of pancreatitis and is not doing well. She is on an anti inflammatory, anti-diarheal, and pregnezone. She has been in the hospital once to be hydrated. She is still having loose stools, mostly in the evening. The mornings, they...

    Recreational bones?

Can someone tell me what other kind of recreational bones I can give to my Yorkie mix (13 lbs) besides 'marrow bones'? It's been hard to find them lately and I have been wondering if there are any other kinds I can have her gnaw on? Something not too huge. She is a super chewer for a small dog...

    Tearstains.

While we are on the subject of staining, my neighbor's Bichon has staining on his rear end and back legs I guess from chewing and licking. I would guess she has to figure out why he is doing that first, but would changing from tap water help the staining there, too? Does drinking distilled water...

What are your favorite mixed breed "names"?

When I got Lily she had papers from a breeder that said she was a "Morkie" (Maltese/Yorkie mix).... but when anyone asks me what kind of dog she is I always say she is a "Yorkie mix"... I got her second hand and didn't care what she was mixed with... I thought she was adorable...:)

Was this vet's treatment too drastic?

Thanks for all the replies. I feel better about this dog's operation now that I have heard some of your responses. I surely don't know all of the reasons this vet decided to do this operation, but if it benefited the dog and maybe saved his life and saved him from pain in the future, I guess...

Was this vet's treatment too drastic?

This was the first time the dog ever had stones. They didn't say they would put the dog down if he got them again. They thought about it when the vet told them how much this surgery would cost, but decided they couldn't put the dog down. I just thought this seemed a little bit like overkill for...

Was this vet's treatment too drastic?

My neighbor's 10 year old miniature schnauzer got kidney stones for the first time in his life. The vet operated on him to get them out and he also rearranged all his plumbing. He now pees out of a slit further down on his belly. He dribbled blood from this hole for weeks (vet said it was...

    I fricking Love this dog

That was one of the sweetest, most loving tributes to a dog I have ever read. You hit on all the right reasons we love our dogs. How lucky your little Yorkie is to have you and of course you have found the greatest dog in the world...right?...:)

    Previous Pets

The dog I will never forget is "Alex"... He was just a super, super dog. I love my Lily, but Alex was my "heart dog". He was supposed to be a miniature poodle, but there was nothing miniature about him... in stature or heart! We loved him so!! We were so lucky to have him for nearly 17 yrs.

Is your dog "obsessed" with anything?

Lily is obsessed with finding/chasing/killing lizards... then she tosses them up in the air a few times like a cat playing with a mouse and goes on her way looking for another one...

How long are your dogs home alone?

I am with Lily almost 24/7.... I do go shopping once or twice a week and we go out to eat twice a week, but we are just about always together. What is wonderful is that she has no separation anxiety when I do leave her alone. No barking, crying, whining, chewing, wrecking, peeing, anything...
