    Raw Food Diets

Shadow has been fed raw meat/bones/vegetables/fruits/eggs ever since he was 12 weeks old. And it`s the same over here: it`s not common and the vets are sceptical .. But well - Shadow gets healthier food than my 3-year-old-daughter .. meaty bones every morning (chicken, beef, lamb), raw...

    Barking in class

Shadow is a 9 month old chocolate lab - a wonderful dog at home, very gentle with my 3-year-old girl, easy to handle .. We went to puppy-school for a month and then changed to another class .. same dogs for the last 5 months now - small class with 5 dogs (Doberman, Great Dane, Flat Coated...

How to get his attention when we meet other dogs?

Me too, I`d like to thank you for your posts. In my class they actually do take us out in the fields .. dogs off leash - they have to stay with us. But Shadow seems to understand that that`s training and when we`re on our own on a walk it is not .. so when we meet other dogs he`s on the...

How to get his attention when we meet other dogs?

Shadow is 8 months old by now. He listenes to the whistle quite well so when he`s off leash a recall is no problem as long as we meet joggers or bikers .. even horses, deer or cats. When we meet other dogs and they are able to greet eachother or even play for a while and I walk off he`ll follow...

Barking when asked to sit and stay

That`s quite frustrating .. we like to go out for dinner and we do like fancy restaurants - Shadow has come along from the very beginning when he was 11 weeks old; there is only few restaurants that do not accept dogs .. and you are not allowed to take them to beaches or pools where entrance...

    going potty (questions)

Sorry but no advice from our side. Shadow also just waits until I take him out - and when I ask him to get up he starts rolling around as if there`s no need at all. But once we`re outside he`s in a hurry to get to his spot. As long as there are no accidents in the house that`s ok with me.

    Dogs in America??

Thank you all for your posts (and the links/information on New England posted by casablanca1, foxyWench and bubbatd). We think we should rent a house instead of staying at a hotel. But we`ll see - first we have to reconsider taking Shadow at all .. maybe he`s better off at home since he...

Barking when asked to sit and stay

Thank you for your posts. ` I do use OK to release him but not as long as I need him to sit and wait. But I guess you`re right .. it`s too early to ask for more than a couple of minutes .. 5 minutes are no problem though .. I`ll give him more time. And yes - it`s great that I can take him...

Barking when asked to sit and stay

Shadow is 8 months old by now. We take him to work where he usually sleeps somewhere close to my desk, we often take him when we go out for dinner and he sleeps under our table .. all that is no problem. He`s a nice and (usually) quiet dog. But when I take him shopping or I`m at my...

    Dogs in America??

Well, that`s okay .. as long as we know the rules. Fortunately here they`re allowed in most of the restaurants (unless they don`t have an open kitchen) - even the fancy ones.

    Dogs in America??

In Austria/Germany/Switzerland crates are not commonly used - or at least not yet .. most of the people start off without and then, when it turns out that their puppy likes to chew their furniture at night or messes up the house while the owners are gone, they buy a kennel - I used one in the...

    Dogs in America??

Thanks a lot .. how about the countryside - little villages? As strict as the cities? So we can`t take our dog when we go out for dinner .. Do hotels accept dogs?
