    Dog parks and petting

I would assume that anyone bringing their dog to a dog park is looking to socialize their dog, either with other dogs or people, and I would probably pet a dog who approached me in a friendly manner. That being said, I know many owners really have no clue whether or not their dogs are...

Which breed would you rather have?

Bernese, I guess. Big and handsome. Dogue de Bordeaux or Dalmatian?

Breeds that aren't your cup of tea.

While I don't think I'd ever not consider a dog solely on it's breed, there are certain ones I wouldn't search out and purchase/rescue. Examples: Huskys- Had a foster for 7 months, and it was enough. Beautiful dog, too much work. Chows-Too aloof for my liking Akitas/Malamutes/most Spitz...

If one of your dogs could live forever...

My first boy, Levon, my Rott. He died in 2012 from osteosarcoma at only 6 years old. I still miss him everyday.

    Shelter dogs

Dan is from a little hole in the wall pound that can hold 3, yes 3, dogs. The euthanasia rate is astounding. I found Dan on PetFinder, filled in an application and was called a few minutes later and approved for the dog. Never met him, just saw him on line. I got lucky, he's been great. Cost me...

Are you happy with your breed/dog choice?

Yes, my first dog was a Rottweiler, and he was perfect for me. As soon as I can get over his death, which was almost two years ago, I'll have another. Right now I'm at the stage where all other Rotts are not as good as Levon was. Some of my rescues are great, Daniel has always been a...

    Looks Only

I agree, they are just gorgeous! Not the right breed for me, but they are so beautiful.

How much thought do you put into a name?

I am a fan of people names for dogs, and they few I've had with non-people name feel odd to me. Usually when I see a dog I like a name will just pop into my head, but not always. My first dog was a Rottweiler, and I had a hard time naming him. He was Jack, then Gus, then my boss suggested...

Breeds you'd like to own when you're old(er)

My old lady dogs will be Japanese Chins, CKC Spaniels, Papillons, maybe some old Mastiffs and Labs. I'm assuming I'll be old and crippled by the point I get these dogs, as I want as many big dogs as I can while I'm young-ish (34).

Existing Dogs You Want (Right Now)

This little Japanese Chin from a Mill Raid. His name is Sir Henry, and he was brought in to the clinic I work for. Before his neuter he was awesome, after...nippy. I brought him home for a trial adoption, but it's not going to work. I've worked with and fostered and owned difficult dogs in the...

How do your dogs react to cats?

I've been really fortunate, I've been able to keep my multi animal household going well for a long time. At one point I had 8 dogs (7 mine + 1 foster), 7 cats, a rat and a loose rabbit all living together in harmony. I've even been lucky with my foster dogs. Many have no previous cat...

    My furry family

Thanks, I'm still getting my feet wet around here, but I'm sure I'll figure it out quickly!

    Do you have different "types"?

I like the big, tough guys. Mastiffs, Rottweilers, Dobes, etc. I'm hoping my next pure bred will be a DDB, a Doberman or a Dogo. Or another Rottweiler. That being said I also love CKC Spaniels and Papillons! I've never been a Retriever person, but we used to have a Curly Coated Retriever...
