    OFA test and neuter

The neuter price included pain killers, the e-collar, pre-op blood work, castration and IV fluids I think. Which based on some web searches, is still quite high. Urg.

    OFA test and neuter

I know. $450 is ridiculous. We like the vet though (except for the fact that I think he's going to be able to retire early off of us...) so we decided not to look around to price shop. We're in the Bay Area which may be a factor in the price as well. Although I'm sure there are less expensive...

    Upset tummy

So I've started giving him yogurt with each meal and switched him to the beef/lamb version of Innova. I'm going to give it a month or two to see what happens.

    OFA test and neuter

Hi all, My English Shepherd pup is scheduled to be neutered today. The vet called last minute and said, "Oh, I didn't realize Bodie was going to be so big" (he hit 47.4 lbs today) and that he wanted to do an OFA prelim hip test while he's under anesthesia. He said the main benefit would be...

    collie type dogs

We have a black and white English Shepherd and after the millionth person in a single day asking whether he's a Border Collie, I begin to question whether it's real distinct breed. I see the difference (mostly wider snout, ear position/shape) but sometimes it just seems like a very minor variation.

    Upset tummy

I tried canned squash for few meals a couple of weeks ago and it didn't seem to change much. And yeah, he was drinking water at the different places we went. He also ate a lot of snow.

    Upset tummy

Hi all, I've got a question about my 7 month old English Shepherd Bodie. Bodie's first fecal exam at 12-15 weeks (ish) came back positive for Giardia and roundworms. Our vet told us to treat him with Panacur and if I remember correctly, give him Advantage multi as well. At that time he didn't...

    Opinions on daycare

Hello! Was wondering if any of you have thoughts on whether you think I should continue taking my 5 month old pup to daycare. Twice a week we take him to a daycare thats very close to our house. It's basically open play with different areas for small, medium and large dogs. They can go in and...

Neighbors, rats and one curious puppy

Yeah we're definitely with him at all times outside. It's just hard to tell when he's sniffing the bushes because he's doing his puppy sniff everything thing, or when he's actually found something nasty. It stinks because we were hoping to let him have free range of the backyard when he's older...

    Training, food, treats

Thanks for the help. We bought a scale and have been tracking his weight. Not entirely sure what good weight gain should be but we'll figure it out. :) I also tried breaking the kibble and liver up into smaller bits. It's going further so that helps. I'll keep him on the one cup/day for a...

Neighbors, rats and one curious puppy

Hello everyone, Wanted to tell you about a little situation in my neighborhood, how I dealt with it and whether others have additional suggestions. There's a rat problem in our neighborhood (it's a nice neighborhood, just a bad combination of lots of fruit trees and lots of hiding...

    Training, food, treats

Hi all, This forum has been amazing. Thanks for posting all the great advice. I've been reading like crazy. My question for the day involves the amount of food I should be feeding my puppy. He's a 3 month old English Shepherd (med/large breed). Right now he's about 19 lbs and we think...

Sits and lays down without command

Hi all, My new puppy does really well with the touch and watch commands and he's very into training. However, his default positions seem to be sit and lay down, especially when he's stressed with learning. So it's making it very difficult to teach sit and down. I'm having to teach him to...
