My 9 year old Champion agility dog has recently been diagnosed with a pinched nerve due to disc disease (mild).
He has never had any issues.
Does this mean our career is over even if he recovers?
Is anyone familiar with this?
Does anyone here have experience with IVDD or some sort of disc disease issues in their older agility dogs?
My 9 yr old C-ATCH Wrigley just started having trouble. Luckily it is not bad (he can still walk just not jump or climb over things very well)--so surgery is not in the cards yet. Just...
training
We are still doing that for potty--including giving treats/praise when he is good outside--and when he is out of the crate we take him out about every 45 minutes (2 hours and he definitely would have an accident).
Maybe if I feed him a bedtime snack he won't be so hungry at 6am...
I am sure I am failing in some way but it's difficult when your other two dogs were so easy to train.
With Wrigley I just watched him like a hawk--he had maybe 5 accidents and had no problem at 10 weeks holding it for 10 hours. He tried crying maybe once or twice and I yelled be quiet and he...
hmmm
those puppies do look similar to him (although his hair is wiry--I suppose it could be a wire haired dachshund)
he isn't short though and he doesn't have a long body at all--
The vet suggested maybe some Rat Terrier of some sort too?
He is an enigma! :)
good--it's just weird looking--he lays right over him with his two paws over his middle...they don't really get along otherwise so I thought maybe it was a dominance thing
little dogs squeeee
It's been a long time since I have been active here--but trying to get back into it!

Our newest family member (now 7/8 months old) likes to lay over our older male dog. He will place his two front paws right over the middle of the back of my older male dog and lay there--
Should I not allow this behavior?
The older dog puts up with it--although he is not friends with the puppy.
personally I don't want 'em but generally all of the reponses you get are going to be what the person has went through themselves or if they are not parents yet then what their parents decided.
My mom was 36 and my dad was 49 when I was born. They traveled the world (greece, african safari...
I know with my skittish small dog (Honey) that me approaching in any way generally means she backs away or runs away. Generally I get a close as she will allow and then stand still and call her calmly "here honey, good girl, come honey, yes good girl" until she comes withing pick up range...
