    Let's Be Controversial

I've been using public bathrooms for quite a few years now, and I have never once seen someone's "parts", male or female, in one. I'd be concerned if I were in a mall restroom and saw lady parts hanging around in there as well. I realize that is different for men - but if someone doesn't have...

How are dog owners in your neighborhood?

The owners in our area are generally really good to their dogs. Nice suburban New England. Dogs are rarely seen roaming, surrenders are very low to rescues/shelters, most of the dogs out and about seem reasonably well socialized and healthy. I was an animal control officer a couple of towns...

    What happened?

A lot of people wandered off to Facebook; those who stayed got maybe one or two replies to posts, and eventually gave up. Once in a while, people wander back and try to re-ignite the forum, but then they disappear in a day as well. And come back a month later and wonder what happened again...

    Tucker's Training Class Thread

I taught it with a rear foot target. Luring him off it, then rewarding him when he would reach back with a hind foot to find the target again. Then just gradually increased how far I asked him to back to it, and added a cue.

    Let's Be Controversial

I will controversially say that I, as an avid dog lover, really don't want a lot of dogs in stores. Service dogs, fine. Everyone's dogs shedding and brushing up against the clothes in stores? Lifting their legs and marking things (hard to kick them out when half the time nobody notices)...

    Chaz puppies of 2016

Oh my gosh, black bi Shelties are my favorite. Kane is adorable!

    Lets see your horses!!

Oh, Indie was absolutely gorgeous. I wanted pretty much anything BUT a chestnut when I was horse shopping, and of course along came Tristan. Now the redheads are my favorite, especially the darker ones like Indie was. I'm so sorry you didn't get more time with her. I'll look forward to...

    Lets see your horses!!

I'll play even though I'm not a horse owner anymore. It was such a huge part of my identity for so long, it still feels odd. Although I never owned him, passing mention is always owed to the real Boston Banker. He was the love of my high school years, and still a bit the horse who I love...

    Let's Be Controversial

Yup, most of the doodles here are pretty decent dogs as well. Our neighbors had one that was barky when it was young, but otherwise was a really lovely dog.

New baby horse! Plus everyone else.

Very interesting. I have close to zero experience with gaited horses, but I'm intrigued by them. There are quite a few Icelandics in our area, but not much else that I've seen. It will be fun to see how she grows up!

New baby horse! Plus everyone else.

Gorgeous pictures as always! Is the new girl gaited?

    Let's Be Controversial

I disagree with the use of prong collars and e-collars. So there you go ;) Rescue bashing makes me unfriend people, because for every crap rescue out there (and yes, I am fully aware there are plenty), I can show you three crap breeders. Neither is better than the other. That's...

    Gusto's DNA Test

Yeah, I really don't see the ACD in him, either physically or with regards to temperament. I know the owner of his littermate said she could see ACD as a possibility; I think she has a bit of a sharper temperament, and she's built fairly differently. Maybe those genes just passed over Gusto...

    Gusto's DNA Test

For anyone who has been waiting around with baited breath.... Not the craziest I've seen, for sure. I'd probably swap out the ACD for more BC and maybe one of the Amstaffs for a smaller terrier, but I certainly wouldn't rule any of those 3 breeds out completely as part of the mix...

    The dog musing/vent thread

His dog didn't seem to enjoy agility, so he stopped doing it? I don't see anything wrong or surprising about that. As someone who has beaten her head bloody against the wall with dogs who aren't "ideal" agility dogs, I don't begrudge anyone making that decision. It's supposed to be fun; if...
