We went to the dog park today. And by "we" I mean, Me, Rizzo, and the three dogs I was watching for someone (patches/male, rosie/female, sam/female). Sorry this is going to be long.
Now THAT was an adventure! haha
It was wet before we went, but not raining. So I ran Rizzo a bit to get her tuckered out. I thought the dog-park (off-leash area) was all grass. Found out a large area is worn out and turned to slippery slippery mud. lol yay! >_<
So anyways, I thought I'd see how Rizz did with the three nuts. So I got Rizz in the front seat of the car (she loves riding there, I know It's bad) and we went to pick of the three nuts, which I will call PRS. lol
So I got PRS in the back seat (haha) with Rizzo still in her seat belt in the front seat. I didn't want to let them meet in their yard, cause Sam's a bit territorial. Not really aggressively, but she will bark at a dog and I didn't want to scare Rizzo.
So, all of them where in the car, sam wanted to sniff Rizzo, but Rizz was a bit scared of them at first. By the time we got there though, Rizz was getting more into sam and sniffer her as well (as best she could being stuck with the seatbelt lol).
So I took Rizz out, and one of the nuts out at a time to meet Rizz to see how they did. First was Patches, big black boy. But he's also the friendliest and calmer of all of them. They did good! I went for a real quick walk away from the car and back and they where really good. Rizz warmed up to Patches almost immedietly. I think it was because he sniffed to say hello, but after that it was just like she was another dog in their pack lol He wasn't all over her or anything. So yay! ^_^
Then I Put Patches back, and got Sam. She's a bit more dominant, but still very good with other dogs. Rizz had already sniffed Sam in the car so she wasn't quiet as scared. She even tried playing with Sam, cause Sam was really interested in playing with her. So yay again! ^_^
Last was Rosie, who can have a bit of an attitude and is really loud/pushy. Something I was worried would scare Rizz. Rizz did end up giving sam a bit of a Warning growl because Sam started getting a bit too rough for her, but Rosie took that in stride and got the hint. lol But all did really good! And I'm really proud of Rizzo! She wasn't too scared and she did really well. She seems to be really good with other dogs.
So, we went somewhere special. The off-leash area. There wheren't a whole ton of people there (as it was now sprinkling and wet) but the people that go there seem to generally be responsible. So in we go!
Now that was an adventure! I have to say, all the dogs where REALLY good! Even Rizzo! She stayed near me the entire time, even though she was off-leash. When she did start going a little further from me, it was usually with the three nut dogs I had. lol But she was really good.
We saw a few other people, one person with a little pit/terrier/whippet mix dog that loved my four. Rizzo LOVED that dog! It was a really cute one. I ended up walking with the girl who had the dog and talking with her for a while.
Saw some labs, shepherd mix, a few pure American Pit Bull Terriers (3 puppies! and 2 adults), and a few others. My favorite was the pit/terrier/whippet we walked with and the pit bull adults! The puppies where really cute too, but the two adults where gorgeous!
Patches loved the 2 Labs. He kept slipping in the mudd though Rizz slipped once and freaked out. lol She looked like she was running from a monster and came to hide behind me lol poor her!
No pics, I know I know! I wanted to, but it was just raining so much and the mud and everything. I didn't want it to get dirty. The dogs where all very dirty by the way. It was absolutely pouring by the time we left, everyone was drenched. Thank god for blankets and towels!
Also, it's kinda funny the looks you get from people when you're walking 4 big/semi-large dogs. lol Especially when I'm mozzying along, doing great, passing people that are being dragged by there one, medium sized dog. haha
So yeah, it's official I think. Rizzo is a lover of dogs, not people. haha She was still pretty nervous of all the people, but let one young lady give her a treat without tossing it. Progress is good!
