Miley is. Spanky and Bandit are if invited. They understand that concept very well. They are too big to be on the couch all the time. If there are a lot of people around they have to sleep on their bed which is actually more comfortable. I am the only person that is aloud to let Bandit up on the couch. He doesn't respect people right off the get go and will get possessive of the couch. No growling, snapping or snarling. Just will wiggle his way behind them shove them off. They don't see it as a big deal but I know my dog and what he is like. He isn't doing it to be cute.

The cats live on the couches. Currently I have Miley, Bella, Spazz, Spanky and Bandit all squished onto the couch with me. It's rather awkward because Spazz hates everyone, Spanky and Bandit usually do not get along this close together, and Bella and Miley are playing. I'm sitting here wondering why the heck I let my animals on the couches.

As for the beds I am guilty. All my dogs and cats sleep with me. Spazz usually will stalk off some time during the night and Bandit will kick Spanky out of bed but at the very least I have Bandit, Miley and Bella curled up in bed when I wake up.

Dash and Dakota are allowed on beds and laps, but they can't hop up onto the furniture whenever they want. Eve is allowed on my futon whenever she wants. All the other furniture, she has to be invited first. Zaphod isn't allowed on anything but my futon, because he scrambles around and scratches at the sofas and chairs.

Bamm isn't allowed on the couches. He is allowed on my bed, but that's it. He was allowed on couches at the foster place so I worried he might try to get on the couches but he hasn't even tried once... he loves my bed though

My dogs are allowed free access to furniture whenever they want. I don't have a problem with it, and I don't feel the need for them to ask. All I require is that they get off when asked, and that's never been a problem. Also, no bones or chewies are allowed on the furniture. Mushroom struggles with that a little bit sometimes.

At home everything is pretty much fair game.

At my parents . . . well, you guys have read the stories, lol!

At the furniture store? Nope. Don't even THINK about it . . .

Max was allowed on my bed, my brother's bed and the couch downstairs but not the furniture in the living room.

Eggzactly.

He's not allowed on my parents' bed and he MUST have all four paws on the ground near the counters and kitchen table, but otherwise it's pretty much a free for all.

Yes, they are allowed anywhere they want to be.

When we first got the new leather furniture they weren't allowed and they slowly wore me down..........same with the new bed  :D

Mine are allowed on all furniture. They have big squishy beds so most of the time they prefer those. :)

As of right now, yes they're allowed on all furniture. I could see that changing though, when I get new furniture. But I don't know how I'm going to keep them off of the new stuff when we're not at home - and Ilsa is a bonafinde couch/bed dog. Hmmmm...

Ditto Elegy. My dogs are allowed on all the furniture whenever they want and we've never had a problem with getting off when asked.

I personally have never had a problem but I have seen others have issues with Bandit and because I live with other people I think it's rude to let the dog who can prove to be difficult up on the couches.

LMAO! Check out my thread about Kharma's obsession and you'll realize how futile that is . . .

Ye-up. I can't sleep at night if Wally isn't snuggled under the covers with me.

But both of my dogs have earned their right to be on the furniture. For Wally it took a while, seeing as how his first night at my house his teeth grazed my cheek when I tried to crawl into MY bed . . .

Rumor needs to be invited on my bed, but everything else is pretty much fair game. If I want to use the sofa, she knows to get down. And if I'm already on the sofa, she usually waits for an invitation before hopping up. I've allowed her to sit at the kitchen table a few times, more as a joke than anything. She knows better than to steal my food, which is surprising. As a puppy she nearly demolished an entire platter of food at a party.

well, Baxter is curled up on the sofa next to me right now...soo..yeah :p. Traveler pretty much prefers the floor. At night, Baxter sleeps next to me in bed (lol--didn't start off that way--but it works!). The key to it all is he knows if I (or anyone else) tells him to move, he needs to move. So it does work ok.
