I got to meet a leonberger yesterday night at the movie theater! Very nice dog!

It was a rescue. The old family imported it from Germany and they couldn't keep it cause it got "too big" Who would've guess right? lol So this lady got the guy from a rescue.

Anyways, the dog was sooo sweet! And very calm and quiet! He was in training to be a service dog and the theaters was one of his tests. Apparently he was doing very well and had passed all the other tests so far. :)

I was seriously impressed with this dog! He was soooooo sweet! lol

Actually I think this may be him!

Harley/Marley. I *think* that may be him! The lady looked like the one in the pic and I think the dog was that one, but I'm not positive.

Odd, I was just talking with my sister about this breed the other day...

The puppies really look a lot like GSD's to someone who doesn't know eathier breed...

Cool you got to meet one, I wonder how the Movie Theater test ended?

It ended well from what I saw/heard. We saw the same movie, "I am Legend," and I didn't hear a peep from him! Even though there where clips of other dogs barking and loud noises etc.

Now that's just cool, BabyB :)
I know! It was really neat to see him! At first when I saw him from a distance I thought it was just a shepherd mix, but then as I got close I knew it wasn't a shepherd mix! I couldn't remember the name of the breed at first so I asked and when they told me I was like "OH YEAh! that's it!" lol :p

Aren't they a great breed.. I had thought about them before settling on the Tervuren. I wouldn't mind one at all! Great dogs! :)

Awesome! My old boss' neighbor has one. When I first met her I thought she was a gsd mix too. She is a super nice dog.

I've met several at dog shows and just love them. They are so big, fluffy and cuddly.

Ilsa had a couple of Leonberger buddies back home... WOW they were neat dogs! I'd love to have one someday.

I think I may do some more research on them for a future dog possibility. I wouldn't import one though, so rescue is going to have to do. lol

Leonbergers are cool dogs. There is a guy in my agility class that has 2. We have taken classes with them for about 2.5 years. They are like big bears. :p I will say they are a bit aloof as I believe they use Leonbergers as guard type dogs. Dasher used to play with them when they were pups. Now that they are adults they don't play much as the older male did get into it with another JRT (Dasher's dad actually). The younger female is a bit more playful but I think she sees Dasher more as prey ;)

Leonbergers are beautiful. I met two of them once during a walk, and I thought they were really impressive. Saffie and Boy liked them too.
