Gunnar Let Daisy Have It

We had an incident last night, it happened real fast but luckily I was right there to stop it. Daisy had a high value item- the bone from a deer leg we'd fed her the night before- and was laying at my feet chewing it. Gunnar came over for some attention. His only path to me was right in front of her. He wasn't interested in the bone, just getting to me. When he came over she growled and lunged, and he reacted fast and it got loud and intense to say the least. I jumped up and got between them, and made him back up. He was pissed! He growled at her for a few more seconds till I told him to hush up. She was on her side, almost in a fetal position, tail tucked, but she was still growling too. As fast as it happened, he had given her 4 cut. One got her ear on both the inside and outside, and one on the top and bottom of her muzzle, almost like he got her entire muzzle with one bite.

She's fine today and they are still friends, but I'm going to have to keep a much closer watch on them when there are valuable treats laying around.

Here's her wounds, not too bad today. A scratch on the outside of the ear and a nick on the inside. You can't even see the muzzle ones today. They all bled a little but not too bad.

Awwww......make sure you use alot of peroxide and antibotics ......

Aw, they just had a weird moment. I'm glad they're still buddies and that Daisy is okay.

For something so small??? Peroxide yes but no need for antibiotics. Antibiotics should really only be used when they are truely needed or else you risk hindering the body's ability to fight off infections on its own making them more prone to illnesses in the future.

Dan, you're lucky the ear scratches werent worse, those will bleed like ****

Gunner better hope Daisy doesn't change her mind about being submissive once she reaches mental maturity or he is TOAST! Danes are very powerful dogs when they are angry. Mine picked my pug up and shook him like a rag doll.:yikes:

Glad they are back to being friends and I agree with being more cautious now with high value items...those are two BIG dogs! Scary! Glad everyone is OK.

Glad you were there, Dan. I've had to separate various combinations of Bimmer, Kharma and Shiva from time to time - sometimes all three. It ain't pretty. Amazing how we don't have those things happen now that it's just Bimmer and Kharma though.

I'm glad to hear they are both alright. This is the one reason we don't keep toys in the house. Outside we have some balls. Other toys have caused too much trouble, especially when you have 4 dogs and 3 of them are well over 100 lbs.
