And Lauren.. LOL... what Labs aren't backyard-bred these days?
That's basically what I meant, lol, 98% of labs today seem to be BYB and I doubt any breeders of show or field bred labs are going to be allowing their dogs to breed at random with other dogs.

And I don't consider the show ones of good breeding, honestly, they look like Bassets. Labradors are supposed to have nice long legs, you know? Not Giraffe-like, but enough to make them taller.
I understand what you're saying, but they're so smooshy! :D

Well, when you have two of these-

that become these-

before turning into this (reference siggy), well, smooshyness becomes a priority. xD

(Sorry, I just totally hijaked your thread, lol)

I would say that he defintely has some Pointer in him.. his stance and the way his jawline and head are shaped - its screaming Pointer.

I see lab in the broadness of his skull, but a lot of pointer or hound in his body shape.

You may hijack anything if you post corgi pics.. LOL!

Thanks, RD, Summer. :) With all the consensus of Pointer, I think that's what I'll tell people from now on...

That pointerish head might be the ESS coming out. Get rid of the curly ears, and the ESS head and that of a pointer aren't too different . . .ESS/Lab is my guess.

Having seen him in person, I still really don't think he resembles a Lab. I can see the Spaniel in him, and see more Pointer than Lab overall. He doesn't remind me much of an APBT, either. He's a tiny little guy.

Just make your own breed. Seems to be the "in" thing these days. A Cutedor Springer Pointer. ;)

Maybe not but then so many people think these field bred labs I am referring too are not pure labs. Around here they think all labs are huge blocky dogs with heads as wide as doors.

He really doesn't look lab to me at all, really. Yeah, field labs can get really skinny depending on the lines (though labs aren't supposed to be sighthound thin, some are) but his head shape looks so english Pointer to me. The stop, the domed head, the build, everything is much more pointer than lab imo.

Middie reeeaallly looks Pointer, to me. I thought he was an English Pointer, the first time I saw him! It's crazy that his Mom was an ESS... I never would have guessed that. But, Lab x Pointer is my guess, for the other half. Maybe a little Cocker Spaniel? Something about his face reminds me of a Cocker.

This is my sister's (for sure) Lab x Pointer, for reference. I think there are similarities... in the eyes, and the build, mostly. Except this dog weighs 100 lbs:

I completely, absolutely, see no APBT in Middie. Naddda.

I see no APBT in his either. Or any Bully-type-breed for that matter.

Definitely Pointer/Lab.

*O/T but I LOOOOOVE the second picture of him, those eyes look just like Lizzie's!*

I need to capture it, but sometimes, he really does look like he has some APBT in him. I highly doubt he does, but I swear... it's SO much of a bully-breed look. Maybe when I find the recharged batteries I'll nudge him into a photoshoot.

I know Liz.. I love his eyes, too, they're why I like Lizzie's eyes so much. They almost could be the same ones!

In all honesty I can see him as a Great Dane/Pointer (sire) ESS (dam) mix. The ESS would give the size, the Great Dane/Pointer gives the structure/build. Remember, short hair is DOMINANT in dogs ;)
