Has anyone been to one of these? The kind you and your dog attend together? If so, which ones, and how did you like the experience? I'm thinking of going to one later in the year . . . but I wanted to see how others thought.

We were signed up for dogwood north this past september, it got canceled from not enough people though. I'd still kinda like to go to another one.

What do you mean by a dog camp? I ve been to many training camps/workshops, which usually last 3-5 days, 9am - 5 pm. They are wondeful in my opinion, I always learn a ton and come away from them with lots to work on and think about. I prefer to have a working spot in the camp, but if that isn't possible auditing works as well.
I was very disappointed that I was unable to attend a Puppy Camp at Garrett's, which is going on as we speak. That camp is 4 days.
The next big one that I want to attend is the Agility Instructors Camp that Clean Run puts on. Plus I want to attend two agility camps in the States in 2008. I have to plan for them and budget for them, as they tend to be not cheap!!:D
One of my students went on a dog and owner canoe camping trip last year in Algonquin Prov. Park which lasted 4 or 5 days. She said they had a great time.

Wouldn't it be so cool if we could all schedule to go to the same camp at the same time?

Once I know if I'll have the money to go, I'd LOVE to coordinate camp schedules with other Chazzers! :) That would be soo much fun.

Does it say what it costs?

If you google, there are ones everywhere. Most are liek a weekend where everything is doggie. You pick a sport or something similar to work on daily. I was signed up for agility and dock diving at the one that got canceled. I was looking for a 'sleep away camp'. I looked into Garret agility ones. I hear they rock, but they are expensive and accommodations aren't included, but I hear it's worth it. Not in my budget anytime soon.

I ve been looking at these camps (although not all of them) and I don't see where they have listed who is instructing and what their creditentials are.
That would concern me, most of these camps are expensive and I want a lot for my buck.

Mafiaprincess, for Garrett's workshops/camp everyone has to sign the typical waviers, plus another............It states that you agree, that in the event you verbally or physically 'correct' your dog that they will ask you to leave and without a refund.
At the first one that I attended, Petie started to break his stay, I said Ack, I was told not to do that again and if I did we would be asked to leave.
You quickly learn to keep you mouth shut!! Visions of a thousand bucks being blown, not to mention the added expense of motel, meals and travel flying out the door with a pop!!

Wow. Kathryn told me a Garret agility camp would be more worthwhile than anything else I looked at. She's right. Everything else is t ogive you a taste of whatever you sign up for.. rather thn work at the level you are already at..
I'd like to go to one.. but I really can't afford to, least at this point. Wow.. Ack is a correction.. didn't know they were that anti corrections. I guess you would learn to not say much fast, lol
