If anyone asks me this in Petsmart again, I swear I'm going to stop bringing Eve.

We get the same questions every time we go in:

Them: Is that a Border Collie?
Me: Yes.
Them: How old is it?
Me: 11 months.
Them: Wow, it's really small.
Me: Yup. It's a she, by the way.
Them: Are you sure it's not a puppy?
Me: Yes, I've had her since she was 8 weeks old.
Them: But Border Collies are big. Maybe she's not done growing.
Me: She's not getting much taller, she's just small.
Them: Really? Are you sure she's not younger?
Me: YES.
Them: She's skinny! Do you feed her?

ARGGGGH!!! Just because THEY see 75lb, 24" obese border collies doesn't mean that's all there is to the breed. And yes I'm sure of my dog's age, thanks.

Stupid people.

People always ask me if Blaze is a puppy collie. No he is just a very large sheltie/small collie. Not sure exactly what one he is, being a puppy mill dogs who knows. Any way people always assume he is just a puppy and then doubt me. No I have had him for over 4 years so he si not. One lady even argued with me that he was half german shepherd lmao. No he is not. She literally told me I was wrong and he was a german shepherd mix. Ok crazy lady

I get the same thing with Spanky. Or people ask me "Are your dog brothers?" and when I respond yes they ask "Are yo sure? The one is so much bigger!" Well if you were so certain they weren't then why'd you bother asking. And I should know. They are my dogs!

That woudl be annoying, their probably used to seeing a lot more hair on the pet type BC as opposed to a dog from lines like eve's. She's gorgeous though, love he

Yeah... a lot of people are shockingly dumb. And pushy. And annoying. Eve is perfect the way she is!

A lot of people don't believe that Gonzo is alll Border Collie. They think, because he has a medium coat, and funny ears, and doesn't look like a show or pet-bred BC, he must be mixed. And their guesses are the worst. "He looks like he could be part spaniel, or terrier!" HA!

Sigh, I get that with my border. She is very petite and has upright ears with one blue eye. You have no idea how often I have been told she is a Husky mix. Hello! I got her from a working farm, watched both her parents work, mom full of milk at the time (what a dog). How dare someone tell me that she is not a pure border!

I got that down here with Booger ALL THE TIME. Just because shes not a monster pit that has no real conformation like the actual APBT that was around when they were first created does not make her a puppy.

Yeah, you would think, since she's your dog, you would KNOW how old she is. People crack me up sometimes.

Sadie is lab/border collie mix. She's very tall and people always tell me she has part Great Dane in her. Granted, I have no idea, she could have some from grandparents, but you can look at her and tell she's lab and border collie. She has characteristics of both breeds.

People think Marlowe's a puppy all the time. He's just small, but very much an adult. I've had him for almost two years and he hasn't gotten any bigger, so I don't think he's gonna! He's from working lines, as long as he's got working ability, he doesn't have to be gigantic.

I've also had people tell me Conrad must be a puppy (um, he's 7) because he has big feet. Where do people get these ideas from!?! Some dogs just have big paddle feet, just like some people do. They don't make size 14 shoes for no reason!

I love the people that argue with you- it's fun. It's one thing to ask, but another to argue.

Well, your mini border collie should come hang out with my mini shelte. :D

I hate people at dog parks, beaches or stores who will argue with you. I took Lily to the dog beach and this guy started talking to me asking me if she was a lab so I said No she is a lab rottie mix. The guy then argues with me for twenty minutes and then proceeds to tell me that I 'have no clue what I am talking about and obviously dont know my dog breeds' Uh ok guy. I dont know my dog breeds? dude I knew my dog since she was first born. Shes part rot. 'No no no! I have been breeding Labs all my life! She is pure' OK whatever you say but I dont know my dog breeds? and you do? Ok... So I can definately feel your pain.

I think it's kinda fun when they argue with me about things other than her size. I had someone once argue that Dakota was "one o' them seein' eye dawgs" because he was wearing a leather harness. They almost argued with me about my vision!!!! :lol-sign: Can you imagine? "Are you sure you aren't blind?"

The only person I've ever argued with was a guy who said his (purebred looking) border collie was a purebred springer spaniel. No friggin way was a dog with a straight, slick coat and PRICK EARS a springer spaniel. It just doesn't happen.

I've been having pretty much the same coversation with people lately regarding Dance as well. It's extremely annoying. Apparently Tollers are supposed to be 60+lbs and I have a "miniature". Stupid people.

You'd think they'd learn to listen to the owner of the dog, who probably knows far more about the breed(s) we own than they'll ever know.

I can't seem to convince people that Sawyer is an Aussie, because he's not horse sized and doesn't have blue eyes or a ton of copper. Apparently all Aussies are 70 pounds, much broader and they have to have orange on them or they're not really Aussies. I'd love see what people would call a black bi Aussie!

I'm also told a lot that I'm mean for docking my Border Collie. Sorry, as far as I know, my Aussie was born this way.

OMG, Grace, I get this with SPY. And Spy is like, twice her weight!

I know what you mean though about these monster overweight BC's. It's gross.
