I could type out a million things as to why firefox is not actually any better than IE, but someone has already done it for me. Including a lot of verified research by independent organization.s

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html

I can add that I used to be a zealous Firefox user, until only a few months ago. I started to wonder why I actually used firefox, so I tried IE7 again. IE is actually faster, and I don't get any spyware. With firefox, my weekly spyware scans were coming back with 30-70 entries a week, with IE, I haven't gotten a single entry since I switched, except for two tracking cookies I got from the one time I opend FF.

I'm not saying you can't use firefox, but it does get tiring everytime someone talks about it, they say it's the be all end all of browsers. It's not, it's just a browser that isn't based off Mosaic like IE is.

Hmm, yeah, I remember when I was the one being made fun of because I wasn't using Firefox. I'm not a huge fan of IE, but I like it better than Firefox. I really dislike Safari. It confuses me.

IE6 was JUNK.

Microsoft is going to have to do something very good to make me try IE7.

I'm not sure how that site claims ie6 was faster than firefox, its very untrue, and it appears to be much more secure (by design or market share) than IE6. I have not had any spyware problems with firefox, except for a few tracking cookies. No malicious software or similar things.

100% agree with the IE6 comment, that's why I switched to firefox in the first place.

If you have spybot search and destroy with the immunization function enabled, that and IE is a powerful combo, it blocks basically everything.

I had IE for 3 months, got a virus. Switched to firefox, haven't had any problems in 3 years. My fiance uses firefox. The one time he opened IE for something he got a virus. I had to wipe my computer clean when I got that virus, and I think he is probably going to have to do that too. So Firefox for me.

The new version of IE is pretty darn good. I actually keep both Firefox and IE on my computer and which one I use partially depends on what I am doing.

Never had any problems with FF. No spyware, pop ups, anything.

Add on the extensions and you've a far superior browser than IE. Even the tabbing function is more intuitive than IE.

Now I'm posting from Opera. I feel as though my forum browsing experience is a thousand times better than with IE. :p

I do actually like Opera a ton more than Firefox.

I'll NEVER use ANYTHING microsoft made again.
Not if I can help it.
My computer is operating on Linux and I use firefox or konquerer.
I had HUGEHUGEHUGE problems with microsoft both XP and ME.
I got pop ups, spyware, and a virus.

I got my laptop, put Kubuntu on it and have NOT had ANY problems with it.
And that's been WELL OVER a year.

Most viruses made target IE. I'll never use it again.:D

I use firefox....mainly cause I think the icon is prettier, and the browser itself is prettier.

I dont really notice a difference... ::shrugs::

I have IE and Firefox. I have to have IE for my school program and Firefox for Photobucket to work properly.
I tend to us Firefox more often. I have to say I trust it a bit more.
