I went out to lunch (for the second time:)) with the police officer that helped me find Dottie. When I came home, I noticed a big van on my driveway with the shelter name on it. A man was just getting out and asked me if this was my house, and obviously, I said yes.

He told me someone had filed a complaint about my dogs.

My dogs are kept on leashes at all times, and I told him one had even gotten stolen the other day. He gave me the 'stop talking cause I'm about to speak' look, and I started to get scared.

The man said I owned various aggresive dogs and wolf-hybrids and said he wanted to come inside. I let him in and instantly he had a nice big rottweiler come up to him, look at him, sniff his knee and walk off. He wrote something down, but I think he thought Dawson was going to eat him when he first saw him, because Dawson is big and he's a rottweiler and you know all rottweilers are man-eating and vicious. (sarcasm if you can't tell :lol-sign: )

He walked around my house and saw Jack. He asked me for his registered papers etc.. to prove he wasn't a wolf hybrid. I gave him the puppy mill rescue papers and the shelter papers, and he read through them.

Anyway, he kept looking my dogs over and over again, especially Dawson. He asked if he could feed the dogs, and I told them no because they were on very strict diets and had already been fed today. He gave me an evil look and wrote it down. (The guy was starting to scare me - was he going to take me and my mom's dogs away?)

Then my door knocks and my aunt Carolina walks in. Dawson freaks and leaps up (which is weird because Dawson never jumps up, he's a rather calm dog), he probably missed her alot. The guy starts dancing in circles screaming : OMG THE DOG IS ATTACKING HER THE DOG IS ATTACKING OMG OMG OMG WTF OMG HELP! Anyway, while my aunt Carolina is down eye-to-eye greeting Dawson and my mom's other dogs, the guy is having a freak attack.

At that point I asked him to leave because he was giving my niece a headache. He simply stared at me and left.

I got realy annoyed with him. But who would call saying I have vicious dogs and wolf hybrids and stuff?

I wonder if this guy really WAS who he said he was . . . . Never, ever, ever allow anyone like that into your home if you are alone, and never ever let them get by without presenting you with proper identification.

And, incidentally, if you push a little you can probably get the name of the person who made the report.

That came to my mind, too. I probably wouldn't allow anyone into my house unless they could show me proof that they worked for the county or something. Could have been a scary situation!

yeah, doesn't animal control work from the police precinct? Why would he come in a shelter van?

That is the strangest thing. If it was an animal control officer, then number one, he's a complete idiot and should obviously seek another profession, number two, it was prolly the guy who stole Dottie who called it in.

Why did he want to feed you dogs? That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard of. I would call animal control and find out if a call was really made and if they really sent someone out.

He did show me identification, and I can tell you I wasn't home alone. My brother was home sitting on the couch pigging on chips and I got realy embarrased.

I have a feeling that wasn't the last time I saw him though. When he left and shut the door I felt like sending Dawson after him. He didn't need to poke his nose around my dogs twenty thousand dogs though. Besides, I don't think he noticed dottie because she was asleep in my room all the while and I didn't let him go upstairs. (I have a lot of valuables and important stuff upstairs, and there's no way a total stranger is going to see it all)

I didn't think about that. Now I'm realy starting to wonder. I'm going to phone into the shelter and check. Now I'm getting freaked out because what if those papers were fake?! :yikes: :yikes:

On the other hand -- you're going on dates with the cop!? DETAILS!!!
 I shall sit here and mock you. XD The only detail you shall know is that he is MINE. :)

I agree with this WHOLE-HEARTEDLY.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER let anyone in your house that DOES NOT have a warrant of some kind.
NEVER let animal control in your home without a police officer or ANYTHING because if you do, they can take your dogs.
At least in my area and in Chicago.

There's NO WAY I'd have let that weirdo into my house.

did you call? what did you find out? that's creepy. if he really is working for them i think you should file a complaint because if he is a legit worker then a reaction like he had should not be acceptable.

Ha! I don't want him. I just want details. I mean, how'd you swing that???

Awesome, and go you, and whatnot.
Ha ha! Well we went to highschool together and apparently he had a crush on me (which I only found out about a few days ago) and I called his sister to get his number when Dottie was returned because I needed to know what the guy had said. It was his sister that said he had a crush on me.

Anyway, he told me he couldn't talk about 'police buisness' and all he said was the guy had pled guilty to taking Dottie from the backyard around 3AM. Then he asked me out to lunch. :hail: Praise not being single anymore. :lol-sign:

I just got off the shelter. They said they had sent a shelter worker and said he wasn't happy with my attitude. I gave them my own bit of attitude and complained that the guy came into my house, had a freak attack over a happy rottweiler, asked to feed my dogs and wanted to know everything about them. They said they would look into it and see why the guy was so darn nosey.

Apparently, his name is Derk and they said they would question his actions when he came back from another complaint.

The guy looked kinda young to me, maybe this was his first time being around this type of complaint and he wasn't sure how to handle it?

I don't wanna think about it because it gives me the creeps. I'm changing my locks tonight and puppy-proofing the backyard by installing a higher fence this weekend with a gate that only opens from the backyard. -.- This WON'T happen again.

Well freaking out and yelling because he thought a dog was acting wrong, is not the way to handle that kind of thing anyway. Shoot, if some stranger came into my house and started freaking out and yelling, my peke Cleo would probably bite him thinking he meant us harm or something.
