They kinda all sound a little different, Jess. Depends on the dog, the size of the dog and why the dog is coughing.

If Chloe is coughing and drooling that's a pretty good sign she's might have something caught in her throat.

No, it doesn't sound like a human cough. To me it sounds like a very short, sharp exhale. I found that some dogs make a honking noise, which is really weird -- mine are almost silent if they do cough.

The cause of the cough affects the sound too -- kennel cough, for one, sounds absolutely ghastly. it's hard not to notice it.

Different. It's kinda like a sneeze almost, but not really.

No shes not coughing oddly enough every since our visit with the specialist every once in awhile she will make this (you know how we clear our throats) kind of sound...

and the specialist said that if she started coughing or anything like that to bring her back, but I dont even know what a dog cough sounds like :(

it'll be ok Jess--I would imagine a phone call will work, at least to know what you should or shouldn't be concerned about. (((HUGS)))

Take her to your normal vet. Is it a possible side effect to something they did? I'm not sure why they would tell you to take her back for just a cough, unless they did something that maybe would aggravate the throat?

because coughing is a sign of congestive heart failure..... :(:(

I doubt it's that. How can a dog that they said was pretty healthy go to congestive heart failure in a matter of weeks? If you're really concerned find the nearest e-vet.

If it's any help, when my first dane had kennel cough, he sounded like an elephant. Seriously, it scared the bejeezus out of me the first couple of times he did it.

Hannah will cough sometimes if she gets a little water down the wrong tube. It sort of sounds like a person clearing their throat.

Hope all is well. Please keep us posted.
