I really thought I answered that in an earlier post. But then I am bleary eyed. They ARE handling it right now.

The best medical care in this country is given to the seniors on Medicare. That is why they are living well into their 90s and beyond. It's their kids who are dying because they can't afford coverage like that.

Well like I said, so long as it is attached to a stockholder's report, people will never get what they need in the end. They will just get it in the end. That's the problem. We are attaching sickness, life and death to a bottom line and a profit.

My friend's 86 year old mother just got two new knees. If I needed two new knees on my HMO they would tell me to get a freaking scooter.

If that is the case, why arent we drilling in ANWAR or the NPR?
1. Because they want the taxpayers to pay for that too
and
2. Why make things readily available when you are making record profits already by soaking the public with sale of what IS available.

Many Alaskans would go around the tax payers to tap those finds, more $ for us.

As an Alaskan I am allready making record dividends on the cost of oil, yet Im paying more for it as well. Without the rest of you we would have gas below $1 per gallon, and for a lot longer than you gas hogs would.

But Blue, without the rest of us, there wouldn't be the demand and therefore no need for the supply.

Screw the rest of you, Im only worried about Alaska. We have the biggest coal reserves in the world not to mention our natural gas resererves.

I don't have the energy to go dig up links to support any arguments right now, but I will say that the US is so freaking far in debt already that anything else is just icing on the cake. The numbers are so high as to be imaginary and therefore unreal and not worth paying attention to, or at least that seems to be the impression I'm getting from our government and their free-handedness with money for all sorts of sh*t that is doing more to eff us and the next four generations over hardcore.

Free health care isn't free. They all get their money from somewhere else, but at the same time, being able to be seen and treated without having to take out a second mortgage would be awesome. Not to mention the fact that I WOULD FREAKING LOVE to be able to get the mammogram my doctor has been pushing me to get for almost a year now, but health insurance won't pay for it until I meet some astronomical deductible. And I can't afford it otherwise. But, should I get cancer and they have to chop off my boobs and eradicate the rest of my health and self-image, well that'll be covered. Never mind how many more thousands of dollars it would cost the companies by that point.

Nothing ever goes like it should.

THink of the waiting list you would be on in Canada or France. My uncle was on a 6 month waiting list. With 4 months to live.

I forgot where I saw this, or how they arrived at their figures, but it said that the private insurance companies have about 30% of their income going to overhead. The government managed medicare has a 1% overhead.

While I am uneasy about true socialized health care (now its my problem if you are smoking) it cant be a good way to run health care that you are reliant on FOR PROFIT companies to keep you healthy or alive. Something, somehow needs to be done.

China happily disagrees with you. That's because they own most of our debt paper. Of course, owning us that way helps in the trade deficit department. China exports to us and imports as little as possible. One can easily see why they get away with it, considering they own us financially right now. Well except for the parts owned by Saudi Arabia, which mysteriously seems to have no chit on it at all in the wake of 911. Anyways, China seems to be gaining interest in things like nuclear energy these days as well. I mean why should they help us out with North Korea. One word from them and North Korea is mince meat. But then again, North Korea is kind of doing their nuclear work for them anyways so why bother? And they got those neato weapons documents from their US...um...affiliates recently. So what'a couple of trillion, right? I mean it's only real when the piper comes. And the piper always comes.

In the meantime, you can't get your mammogram. Seems fair. Like I said, something wicked this way walks.
