Ok so every year there is a cake decorating contest on the 4th of July in my town.
Last year I placed first. I wasnt going to enter this year becuase I didnt have an idea for a patriotic cake. Everyone that knows about my cakes has been hastling me to enter the contest. Well I got an idea tonight. I drew it out on Photoshop, let me know what you think. It's a top hat (Uncle Sam's hat) only a little bit more decorated.
oh btw the green is there just so you can see the outline of the white..

Will the top hat be wearable? If so I'd say you've got a winner. And if you serve the cake off your own head, well, who could say no?

*sigh* the internet hates me

I could have sworn that when I first posted this message it showed up twice, so i edited the second one to "oops double post" when it came up again there was only one message saying "oops double post"

so back to what I had originally said.
No the top hat wont be wearable.
And I wont get to serve the cake. They auction the cakes off after they announce the winners and the money goes to charity.

last year my grandma bought our cakes for either 40 or 60 dollars a piece, i cant remember.

And your neices cake, too cute!

I am pretty sure they are river rock.

See the whole them of her cake is about the fireworks that go up over the river in our town. So her cake has fireworks and the river. the only thing that confuses me is there looks to be a bridge made out of rocks on the river in her cake where as in my town there is no such thing.

I also think it's funny becuase the person who made the third place cake has started her own business making cakes for people. Everyone thinks I should start selling my cakes and make sure I mention in the add that I am Award Winning... lol.

For school we had to make business cards. So I made a business card for my make-believe cake business and I called it "Sweet-Tooth Cakes"

You should def. open yourself up a cake business. If that 3rd place winner can have a shop, you def. can!

Yea, I dunno what the heck those things are , confusing to say the least.

Me too! LOL!

Your cake from last year looks soooo delicious... but it would be so hard to eat it, since it's really pretty :D

I like your idea for this year's cake... I have a feeling that you are going to take 1st place again ;)

Shush- that is a definate possibility. My only problem is transporting the cake. The bakery in town is the one that holds the contest and they bring cake boxes for those who dont have them, but I dont know what kind of cake box will work for my cake since it will be tall.

I am going to use my 10 inch round cake pan for the bottum brim of the hat and then I have a 6 inch round cake pan that I am going to use for the top. I figured I would use a single layer for the brim of the hat and then maybe three or 4 of the 6 inch pans to make the top part.
Also I cant decide if I want to use Fondant (like in last years cake, how it was soooooo smooth) or if I want to use buttercream frosting. and just add the decorations.
